jPortable (formerly Java Portable) allows you to easily add a Java runtime environment to your portable device. It can be used in combination with jPortable Launcher to open Java JAR programs (many with their settings made portable) or used automatically with Java-enabled apps like PortableApps.com versions of LibreOffice and OpenOffice as well as web browsers like Chrome/Chromium, Opera, SeaMonkey and Firefox.

calibre is a feature-rich e-book library management application with a variety of useful functions including viewer, addendums, editor, online book and news search/download. The software can perform detailed searches, convert e-books to device-specific formats, batch metadata tools, and a content server for online access to your collection.

The program syncs automatically with many different physical devices. It supports a variety of ebook and document formats.

Cross-platform with clients available for Mac and Linux. Alternatively, Calibre Portable and an outdated X-calibre, as well as a WinXP-compatible version are also available.

NOTE: Recent press about CCleaner indicates it may represent a privacy concern.

CCleaner is a feature-rich system optimization and privacy tool. The program cleans unused, temporary and log files from your system, as well as traces of online activities such as Internet history and flash cookies. The program contains startup controls for Windows, major internet browsers and context menu entries. Includes a separate registry cleaner, duplicate search, system restore tool and can wipe both deleted files and drive free space for security.

A 64-bit version is available (within the folder). Monitoring functions are only available in the pro version.

Additional cleaner rules can be using an unofficial set of community-developed set. It should be noted that many of these rules are alpha and the developers will not provide support for these rules, a thread in the users forum is dedicated to supporting the add-on rules.

Alternatively, ccPortable is also available.

FontViewOK creates a quick visual overview on all fonts installed or from a folder. Includes printing with print preview function, a list of all fonts from a specific folder, dual font preview for quick comparisons of fonts, as well as ability to modify size, style and color.

Info-Base is a very fast, effective, and easy PIM (personal information manager) and a freeform database for any kind of texts, notes, snippets, and similarly other data. It is inspired by the good old "Info-Select", Version 1.0 for Windows (3.x) - by Micro Logic Corp. with some new options like links, spell checker, tagging, global search, clips from browsers or other programs (with , global hotkeys) , and much more.

GitHub user clsid' fork of Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is a lightweight player with broad format support. It includes keyboard shortcuts, audio/video controls, a web interface for remote control and more. The program is derived from Media Player Classic (MPC), a media player that mimics the interface of Windows Media Player 6.4, and adds support for EVR rendering, H.264 and VC-1 video hardware acceleration, bugfixes, additional languages, decoders and more.

CHK is simple checksum program that can verify downloaded files from the Internet, hash your files to ensure integrity and help detect duplicates. Supports drag-and-drop and most popular hash protocols including CRC-16/32/64, ED2K, MD4/5, SHA-1/256/512/3, BLAKE2sp/b, BLAKE3 etc.

PrivaZer scans and cleans your computers and storage devices, including external disks, USB flash drives, iPods, SD cards or network drives. It safeguards your privacy by removing unwanted traces of internet activities, software usage, USB history, registry and files.

The program includes an available secure delete function that overwrites files to prevent recovery.

Notepad++ is a tabbed source code editor and Notepad replacement with a customizable interface. Includes source code "folding", allowing users to quickly reduce and expand sections of code to see the overall document. In addition, it features multi-language syntax highlighting, auto-completion, Perl-compatible regular expression search/replace, macro recording and playback, document map etc.

A host of additional functionality is available via the plugins admin view, including tools for file analysis, programming languages, viewers, calculations, user interface and many more.

Alternatively, Notepad++ Portable and the outdated X-Notepad++ clean the local folder.

ShareX is a feature-rich screenshot utility that can grab a selected area with a single key and then edit, save to clipboard, drive and/or instantly upload them to 25+ different hosting services (posts to Imgur by default). ShareX can capture screenshots with variety of shapes including rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse, triangle, diamond, polygon and freehand. Supports screenshots with transparency and shadow, as well as those that require scrolling. In addition to images, the program can upload other file types, supporting uploads from the clipboard, a watched folder, as well as drag-and-drop.

Task Manager DeLuxe is a powerful alternative to the native Windows Task Manager, offering detailed monitoring and efficient administration and manipulation of processes, windows, services, sessions, startup entries, environment and system performance.

OneLoupe is an easy-to-use zoom/magnify program with options for zooming or via hotkey. Includes options for full screen, realtime (always visible) and more.

Password Tech is a suite of security tools, including a strong random password and data file generator, text encryption tool, and master password generator.

• Random number generator - Create lists of random characters or passphrases from word lists. Includes multiple features to select easy-to-remember passwords that still conform to security standards.
  
• Text encryption - Uses the Windows clipboard (copy and paste) to encrypt text via hotkey. Also enables caching the password temporarily so you don't have to re-enter the password repeatedly.

Autoruns shows programs that run during system bootup or login, as well as entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility.

Alternatively, Autoruns Portable is stealth and will only show the EULA once.

Youtube Downloader HD saves videos to your computer for playing outside a browser or offline viewing. The videos can be downloaded in Flash video format (FLV) or, where available, MP4 formats (playable by iPhone, iPod etc.). The program can also convert files to Xvid format, compatible with most video players.

Functionality is limited to YouTube. Although there is no batch download, multiple instances can be opened concurrently in order to simultaneously download multiple videos.

Data Crow is a powerful media cataloger and organizer that allows users to manage all their audio, software, book, movie and photo collections in one customizable tool. The program can create a huge database containing all your collected items. Connects with online services like Amazon, IMDB, Softpedia and MusicBrainz to retrieve media information and avoid manual entry. An optional internal web server and web interface can import file information (mp3, divx, xvid etc.) and enable reporting (HTML and PDF).

VLC is a skinnable, feature-rich media player that supports a wide variety of multimedia file and streaming formats. It can play files while they download, from inside RAR files, online radio stations, convert video formats and much more.

The software can also behave as a streaming server for delivering video in unicast or multicast mode.

StrokesPlus is a a mouse gesture recognition program that allows you to automate repetitive tasks by simply drawing a symbol with your mouse or performing mouse and/or keyboard modifiers to launch predefined action(s). Includes a powerful but lightweight embeddable scripting language (Lua), endless gesture and modifier combinations, granular control over program settings, and actions and the possibility to create global hotkeys for actions without using the mouse.

HashMyFiles is a small utility that allows you to generate unique file identifiers (hashes) using a variety of popular checks. These can help determine if a file has been modified or corrupted, as well as help determine the file's reputation by submitting to the VirusTotal database for malware analysis.

Formats supported range form fast to secure with CRC32, MD5, SHA1/-256/-512/-384. The various hashing information can be saved to a report (text/HTML/XML/CSV/TSV) that includes name, path, dates, file size, version and other info.

Just Color Picker is a tool that captures the colour of any pixel in any screen area and displays its code in a variety of formats: HTML, RGB, HEX, HSB/HSV, HSL, CMYK and Delphi.

POP Peeper is an email notifier that alerts you when you have new email on any of your accounts (IMAP [including uploads], POP3 and Webmail, but also RSS with a commercial plugin). You can also send emails using SMTP or through Webmail directly from POP Peeper. Having OAuth support, it can be used with accounts that require it instead of a password.

Recuva helps recover files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players.

The program has a friendly "wizard"-style set up for finding documents by type (pictures, documents etc.) or an advanced mode to search manually through all deleted files.

The program enables the quick upload of various files to many different hosting services without using their respective website interface via drag-and-drop, clipboard uploads, or those taken from the included screenshot tool.

Screenshots can be annotated on the screen while highlighted and the program can do full screen, active window, freehand, selected, area etc. as well as extract frames from video files. Includes batch uploads, hotkeys, watermarks, image text and more.

DSpeech is a text-to-speech program with the option of saving the output to a variety of formats, great for reviewing text or creating audio books. The program uses Microsoft's included speech engine SAPI5 but also supports dynamically changing the features of the voices using tags e.g. insert pauses, emphasize specific words, spell them out etc.

The program can do simple audio/voice recordings to save to WAV, and include some basic dictation / voice control tools ("ASR" for Automatic Speech Recognition). Text can be imported from a variety of formats TXT, DOC, DOCX, RTF, HTML, XML and PDF and outputs to MP3, OGG, AAC, WMA, OPUS and AMR.

QTranslate is a front-end for various translation websites. Open the main window to enter or paste text or simply select text and press a hotkey for a popup translation window. The program also has the ability to search in offline XDXF dictionaries, speech recognition, text to speech synthesis, image text recognition, spell checking, virtual keyboard, search the web and more.

Supported translation services are Google Translate, Bing Translator, Promt, Babylon, Yandex.Translate, youdao, Baidu, Naver and DeepL; dictionaries: ABBYY Lingvo Live, Babylon Dictionary, Google, ImTranslator, Multitran, Oxford Learner Dictionary, Reverso, Urban Dictionary, Wikipedia and WordReference.

Although the hotkeys can be modified, the following are available by default:

mp3DirectCut is a small tool for editing MPEG audio directly. You can remove parts, change the volume, split files or copy regions to new files, all without the need to decompress your MP3 into PCM/WAV. This saves work, encoding time and disk space. In addition, there is no quality loss to edited files.

SynWrite is a powerful tabbed source code and web development editor. This feature-rich program includes syntax highlighting for many languages, code folding, tree structure, project management, FTP/SFTP client, keyboard macros, spell checking, customizable hotkeys etc.

RQ Money helps you to manage credits and debts in the household, providing a quick view of the balance (by time, by category or by person). It allows budget management, multiple currencies, reports, data exporting, searching and graphs. The data (which can be password-protected) is stored into an SQLite database.

Notes:

1. If you use this program in a version older than 1.3 and want to upgrade to version 2.x, first of all upgrade to version 1.3 (is better prepared for the transition to version 2.x).
2. Starting from version 2.0, the program has one limitation: if the user exceeds 2000 transactions (credits, debits or transfers), the automatic backup of the database is disabled. A donation to the author will restore this function.

Pazera's Software Free Audio Video Pack is a collection of video and audio converters that help convert between a wide variety of common audio and video formats. The package also includes applications that allows you to extract audio tracks from CD images based on the CUE sheets, as well as an audio extractor that lets you take just the audio from a video file.

Supported video outputs include AVI, MPEG, MP4, MOV, WMV, FLV, MKV, M4V and 3GP and audio formats include MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, AAC, AC3, and FLAC. Many of the programs act as a front-end for FFmpeg.

QiPress is a monitor for the system keyboard and mouse, describing activity in a small, semi-transparent black box in the corner of your screen. Ideal for presentations, screencasts and program how-tos, the program can also behave as a diagnosis tool for keyboard problems, describe unlabeled keys, or provide feedback show when an application is ignoring input.

ShellExView displays the details of shell extensions installed on your machine and allows you to easily enable/disable each shell extension. ShellExView comes in handy for solving problems caused by third party shell extensions.

DVDStyler is a DVD authoring system that lets you build menus, create backgrounds, add text/images/buttons, import video and audio files and create chapters for each movie.

Alternatively, DVDStyler Portable is available from PortableApps and X-DVDStyler from WinPenPack.

Overlap Wallpaper displays a photo on the desktop wallpaper so that one can have for example the photo of a loved one on different wallpaper image. The overlapped photo can be sized, positioned on desktop as required, and made semi-transparent.

PNG image photos with transparent colors are supported. Photos can be reloaded after a set time, allowing for example the use of another program to overwrite previous image file and auto-display it.

Speccy is an advanced System Information tool for your PC including processor brand and model, hard drive size and speed, amount of memory (RAM), graphics card, operating system details and even system temperatures.

OSFMount is a collection of virtual drive tools that allows mounting local disk image files as a drive letter, RAM disks and mounting CD or DVD images (for simplicity or speed). Supported image types include IMG, DD, ISO, BIN, NRG, SDI, AFF, AFM, AFD, VMDK (used by VMware), VHD (Virtual PC) and more.

The program is ideal for machines without a CD/DVD drive and, as most images are bit-for-bit copies of disk partitions, many programs will treat them as the real thing, enabling programs that require a program disc. For disk images, the program can give access to these files without booting or other required visualization software. Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch is a program for modifying audio, although its most noted feature is stretching. The program includes the capability for (8x, 50x etc.) sound stretching, as well "spectral smoothing" the sounds to escape the audio artifacts common in other audio editors when dramatically slowing audio. Includes many post-processing effects including filters, pitch/frequency shifters and more. The program imports WAV, OGG and MP3 files and can export to WAV or OGG.

The program can be used as an audio toy or in creating ambient or "screw"-style music.

DropIt provides a floating target image on your desktop that you can drag-and-drop files to quickly process them with a predefined action. Defpix is a defective (dead) pixels tester to help check for defective pixels, which sometimes occur on LCD screens. The program simply shows these colors - red, green, blue, white and black - over the whole surface of the screen.

HotkeyP (archived) is a small but powerful macro and hotkey utility that enables you to create a wide range of macro commands and keyboard shortcuts that can perform common tasks such as opening files, running programs, empty the recycle bin, reboot your PC, start the screensaver and much more.

Argente Registry Cleaner is an utility that uses a high-performance detection algorithm to quickly identify missing and invalid references in the registry (problems related with shortcuts, ActiveX, system applications, Windows Firewall, file extensions, fonts, start menu, applications paths, services etc.) in both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

System Explorer is a tool for accessing a variety of system internals. It can also be used as a Task Manager replacement with detailed information about processes, startup entries, explorer/IE add-ons, uninstallers, services, drivers, connections, opened files etc. It has a registry/file snapshot feature so that changes to the system can be computed and displayed in tree view or text list format. It also has a processes security tool that checks your processes against an online database.

Opera (Presto) is a discontinued version of the Opera web browser, meaning feature development and maintenance for this version of Opera has ceased. Compared to the newer version based on Google Chrome, it features a leaner memory footprint, more user-interface customization, an RSS reader, integrated e-mail client, IRC chat, and native BitTorrent support. A variety of extensions are available to further extend functionality.

SpecialFoldersView displays the list of all special folders in your system, and allows you to easily jump to the right folder simply by double-clicking the folder item. Since Windows has dozens of folders for storing application settings and files, Internet files, temporary files, shortcuts, etc. this program makes them easy to access by unifying them all in one place.

AltDrag is a lightweight program for moving and resizing windows. Simply hold down the Alt key and then click and drag any window near the sides of your screen to see available resize options. Besides just moving windows, you can resize, maximize and close them too.

64bit Checker shows the status of a machine as running a 32 or 64-bit version of Windows, as well as other key system information. The program can speed the process of answering this critical question where other system diagnostic programs will take time to sift through.

TypingAid is a fast and simple auto-completion utility that suggests words and phrases in any window. The program supports European languages with accents, suggestion tooltips, and the ability to add words and phrases to word list with shortcut key.

The program can help with writing in a language different than the available keyboard, with highly technical or medical terminology, or to help cut down on typing for touch or disabled typists.

The program was compiled using an AutoHotkey script and the .AHK source included.

Trimto is an image editor to crop, resize, and save in one operation. The program focuses on standard-sizing and a set aspect ratio. Optionally, "Sharpen Edge" and "Auto Correction" can be processed simultaneously. Useful for quickly reducing the size of photos with unnecessary borders or lots of activity on the periphery (e.g. distractions like flags, crowds, power-lines, etc.).

Includes sizing presets and output size details to file name. Input and output formats include PNG, JPG, TIFF, GIF, and BMP.

Bytessence DuplicateFinder (BDF) detects all the cloned files that you might have on your computer. These files, in addition to taking up valuable space, can increase antivirus scan time, slow defragmentation and searches, and make it more difficult to organize your files.
