Stickies work like customizable post-it notes with available styles, fonts, colors and buttons. Notes can be resized or snapped to the edges of other notes to keep them lined up. They can also act as reminders when hidden for a period, until a specified date and time, even upon waking every day, week, or month.
Alternatively, Stickies Portable is available.

I'm not convinced that the following instructions are sufficient:
How to extract:
1 Download the installer and install to the default folder.
2 Copy folder Stickies to your preferred place.
3 Uninstall the program.
4 Create an empty file called stickies.ini in the application folder.
5 Launch stickies.exe.
I think 4 should be:
4 Create two empty files called stickies.ini and stickies.db in the application folder.
v10.1b
In order to use old version notes with the new 10.0a version you hve to UPGRADE from old version to the new 10.0a. You can NOT restore the working folder from a backup because v10.0a uses SQLITE.
v10.0a
Alternative extraction method:
Open installer in 7-Zip like "Parser" (File > 7-Zip > Open archive > # or File > Open Inside #);
You'll see four ZIPs inside;
In 2.zip - stickies.exe, in 4.zip - stickies.chm, in 6.zip - stickies8.ssk, which should be in "skins" folder, and in 8.zip - mdb2db.exe, which seems converts data DB to the new format and only need if you upgrade from the previous version.
v10.0a
Version is now: v9.0e.
v9.0d
Stickies 9.0a is released. It has a new modern UI.
Lots of other changes: http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/versions.html
Stickies runs on XP SP1, Vista, 7, 8 and 10. Earlier versions of Windows are no longer supported.
For those OS, try an older version of Stickies: http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/support/kb.pl?q=00013
v8.0c
@ AdrianK_IT: Link added ;)
v8.0c
There is also a version of Stickies in PortableApps format: http://portableapps.com/apps/office/stickies_portable
v8.0c
This program is the best for it's purpose. Networking is also cool. Portable!
A have other problem lately. On each start it creates two new stickies. I delete keyboard hook dll but new stickies are not triggered by the keyboard. Any idea?

[Anonymous] PR1ME: Sweet program, but it is NOT portable. It stores its info in the Applications Data folder, it stores PreFetch settings, and all kind of stuff. All on C drive. It's dependent on those things, and there seems to be no way to break the dependencies. [2010-02-24 06:46]
Regarding pre-fetch this is entirely a Windows OS problem though some at Micro$oft call PreFetch a FEATURE.
Have you created an empty file called stickies.ini????
Instructions regarding this would be found in the TPFC entry.

[User] robzuc: I agree with PR1ME, it's not portable. After the update, I lost my notes (and recovering them was a pain). I'll look for something else. [2011-10-13 07:50] V7.1b
Have you ever tried the built-in backup feature of Stickies??????????
