Very light and fast, but it didn't want to send my mails. Maybe it's because of not so much to set in account settings.

Emka on 2011-10-04 18:51

A stable version 1.90 seems to be available as well as a 2.00 beta. However, somewhere in the 1.90 changelog it says that it writes to the registry.

I am using this for almost an year and I recommend this software to everybody.
It's really easy to use and has good enough no. of features.

Here is one trick - minimize it to tray and right-click on the icon. It will show the latest recipient's email id's.

Not a big deal but that screenshot really needs an update. It doesn't do the TB interface justice on newer OSs/themes.

MIKLO on 2016-09-01 14:57

Been using for the last few years and it works very well, something that's important 4me is to save all my emails to a file that I choose. I have used many email apps over the years but it always seems at some point they discontinue them. I hope this is not the fate of "ThunderChicken" cuz I have really come to like it very much, in my opinion its a very good email service that does all I want and more. Thanks Mozilla.

I recently moved away from Thundebird after 10 years use because everytime they update it, it breaks something or it runs slower. Slypheed is excellent. Its fast and reliable and doesn`t render html, which is exactly what I need.

hamasaki on 2014-06-28 04:10

@lux Maybe this was an earlier version? Now it stores all the data within the app folder, so portable.

domestique on 2015-12-17 23:20

@Kea: Thanks for the warning re. non-encrypted password storage. It's the same reason I ditched filezilla.

Not encrypting one's account info is lame for otherwise well thought out software.

Bye bye Sylpheed >.
