Tb ate my mail last week and then died. Er...so I re-installed it and copied over - no problem. If its important, back it up. D-synchronize (portable) and FreeFileSynch keeps my sh*t together accross many laptops + more flashdrives + several usb H/Ds.

As for the -wont send problem- on reinstall i had the same...i set everything 100% right, get messed around and was close to being very angry, but rebooted a couple of times (no changes to anyting) and *THEN* was good to go. I have no explanation for that...

Tb ate my mail this week and then died. Er...so I gave up on it, forever, regardless of backups.

Vagablonde on 2011-05-11 07:16

@abc - i agree completely
for those looking for an alternative, qBittorrent is becoming quite good - it has a nice, functional GUI and it's open source (and cross-platform) - http://www.qbittorrent.org/

Noticed now if you use the Check for Updates option in help menu you get a stupid ad at the top of uTorrent disguising it's self as a recommended torrent.

How do you work with a local MySQL file?

crab on 2011-01-23 20:56

Can't use SQL files directly, have to connect to a server. useless.

scottG on 2011-02-16 13:11

Just a clarification, this doesn't work "directly" with Oracle, MySQL or other DB, it requires an ODBC connection set up. If it worked "directly" with those it would connect to Oracle via TNSNames on (default) port tcp/1521 and for MySQL tcp/3306. It does neither.

I am following up on my previous post:
- I closed FireFox
- I could delete all the three files
- I restarted FireFox
- FF has recreated the files!

juvera on 2013-04-02 21:09

... and now my last test:
When you close FireFox, it does delete the temp folder with its temp files.
Therefore, it can be considered as portable?
I would have expected that the temp files and folder to be created in the install folder!

webfork on 2013-04-03 00:09

juvera: this should ideally go into the forums, but yes it's considered portable. Temp file behavior is covered in the FAQ.

LibreOffice Portable v4.0.3 Updated

Checker on 15 May 2013

LibreOffice is a complete office suite including word processor, spreadsheet, presentations, database, drawing tool and more. Includes excellent compatibility for 100s of file formats including OpenXML (docx, xlsx, etc.). The program is similar to OpenOffice, a program that it was derived from, but has added many new features including more import filters and window enhancements.

LibreOffice Portable is a special build optimized for flash memory devices developed in conjunction with the publisher. On systems without Java installed, some functions that require it (document creation wizards, the Base database application, etc) can be enabled by adding jPortable, though this is optional and can be skipped if those functions are not needed.

Alternatively, X-LibreOffice is also available.

@lux: I think the objective is making LibreOffice less huge by sharing code between components as much as possible.

Goofy on 2013-04-26 12:39

"Includes excellent compatibility for 100s of file formats including OpenXML" - that must be a joke??? LibreOffice still messes up 90% of my Word-, Excel-, and PowerPoint files. Especially docx, xlsx, and pptx formats. If you value maximum compatibility, LibreOffice is pretty poor. SoftMaker FreeOffice in this relation remains unbeaten.
