@smaragdus: You will note that the SourceForge page is now listed as being owned by 'sf-editor1'. That is one of the SourceForge staff accounts. What that means for CDex is detailed here in this Ars article:
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/05/sourceforge-grabs-gimp-for-windows-account-wraps-installer-in-bundle-pushing-adware/

tl;dr: SourceForge decided that the project page was abandoned, took it over and bundled the installer with ads, as they have done for a number of other well known projects.

The link on this page still points to CDExPortable_1.7.8.paf.exe, not to version 1.8.1. PortableApps.com has the updated link.

@AndTheWolf: Good catch - I'm just using the PA home for both the website and download links.

I prefer freac snapshots to freac stable because the snapshots support more encoders (including the best one- OptimFROG, Monkey's Audio, WavPack, etc).

CUETools v2.1.5

billon on 31 Mar 2017
  • 6MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 7 Apr 2013
  • Suggested by freakazoid

CUETools helps ensure an album image is preserved accurately by managing lossless audio and CUE sheet format conversion. Since many applications don't keep track of preserving gaps and CUE sheet contents during conversion, or don't support all possible CUE sheet styles, CUETools preserves both with no loss in quality.

CUETools includes CUERipper, an extremely powerfull yet easy-to-use CD ripping program, with features like lossless and lossy encoding options, EAC style logs, automatic metadata look-up, and AccurateRip verification.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Dependencies: DotNET Framework 2.0, MSVCR90.DLL, MSVCP90.DLL
Stealth: ? No. Writes some files to AppData

  2. Delete the file user_profiles_enabled

it's not stealth
the last stable version saves files inside AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\CLR Security Config\v2.0.50727.312\64bit\

Specular on 2016-02-13 03:09

The included CUERipper program is utterly superb and should be mentioned in the description I strongly think since it doesn't have enough attention and currently doesn't show up in results (I'll fix that in a sec).

It has an easy to use yet poweruser-friendly interface, produces EAC logs with AccurateRip information, offers Burst/Secure/Paranoid ripping modes (with Burst correctly set by default), allows for image or track rips, verify options and moe.

And one of the main features which solidified my switch: both it and the main CUETools offer a metadata search UI that displays the extended tag info such as Publisher, Barcode, etc. The only ripper I've tried which displays and tags this.

brickablesmile: presence of adware confirmed (and entry edited), but every source I've read indicates that the user is prompted. Please post in forums if that's changed.

It's possible to extract the installer, entry updated.

Glad to see Audiograbber is still around, as it was the first trustworthy CD ripper I ever used, back in the 90's... :)

It was only deprecated when I discovered bit accurate Exact Audio Copy (not portable, but there are portabilized versions floating around the Web).
