QTranslate is a front-end for various translation websites. Open the main window to enter or paste text or simply select text and press a hotkey for a popup translation window. The program also has the ability to search in offline XDXF dictionaries, speech recognition, text to speech synthesis, image text recognition, spell checking, virtual keyboard, search the web and more.

Supported translation services are Google Translate, Bing Translator, Promt, Babylon, SDL FreeTranslation.com, Yandex.Translate, youdao, Baidu and Naver; dictionaries: ABBYY Lingvo Live, Babylon Dictionary, Definr, Google, ImTranslator, Multitran, Oxford Learner Dictionary, Reverso, Urban Dictionary, Wikipedia and WordReference.

Although the hotkeys can be modified, the following are available by default:

  • Show the translation window: CTRL+Q (press CTRL twice for the main window)
  • Speak text: Ctrl+E
  • Perform a web search: Ctrl+W

How to extract: Download the "portable" ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch QTranslate.exe.

Optionally, delete unnecessary locales.

That'll teach you even thinking about using an installer...;-)

I never ever thought of using the installer, I was just testing the download link- the problem with the installer download doesn't appear for the first time. However both primary download links (installer & archive) work fine now.
Thanks to the developer for maintaining and improving the program and for not ruining the interface (so far) like many other freeware developers did recently.

Longman English Dictionary Browser v2.0.5 Updated

Longman English Dictionary Browser displays search results from Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English Online for user’s selected keywords with the key combination Ctrl+Shift+D.

Note that while the program will run slow initially, the program gradually builds up a cache of various different parts of speech into one. Once this is finished, the program should have very little delay.

Written in AutoHotKey.

What's new? Improved:
  • The handling of not-found words.
Fixed issues:
  • That the program did not launch any longer.
  • That Google TTS was blocked.
  • Of GUI layout due to custom DPI configurations.
  • That any word has been no longer searchable.

I strongly suppose that, every time you enter a search, this program will connect not only to the Longman database but will also establish connections either to Google or Amazon (the two biggest tracking firms this poor, abused globe has ever seen). The website with the pure online version doesn't even load if I block Amazon. If someone else tests it and finds out that it doesn't connect either to Google or Amazon, I will download it. :-)

TheSage is an English dictionary and thesaurus that contains over 145,000 references with multiple detailed definitions (over 200,000), and nearly 1,200,000 relationships between definitions. It features cross-referencing, wildcard and anagram search, multi-session history etc.
