A bad piece of news. Even more- the AM-DeadLink history page has been removed and cannot be viewed only in Archive.Org- https://web.archive.org/web/20150316124157/http://aignes.com/deadlink_history.htm

No idea what other changes have been made in version 4.7. The help file also doesn't include a what's new section.

Sorry, but i can't find version 6.03 on the website. It's still 4.60

Midas on 2014-07-15 09:34

FYI, Tunnelier has been renamed Bitvise SSH Client and the current third party PAF repack is v4.60 Rev 2.0 (see http://tp.vbap.com.au/download). The current upstream Bitvise SSH Client is v6.03 (changelog at http://www.bitvise.com/ssh-client-version-history). Both still freeware...

For a freeware portable server alternative, check out Stunnel (http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21551). For a freeware non-portable server, see SilverSHielD (http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21461).

Download link broken...

dot on 2017-08-05 07:57

I strongly suppose that, every time you enter a search, this program will connect not only to the Longman database but will also establish connections either to Google or Amazon (the two biggest tracking firms this poor, abused globe has ever seen). The website with the pure online version doesn't even load if I block Amazon. If someone else tests it and finds out that it doesn't connect either to Google or Amazon, I will download it. :-)

Thought I'd ask: does anyone know how URL Monit@r compares to Xenu Link Sleuth ATM? (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=112)

tactictoe on 2016-03-12 02:38

Hi Midas. To answer your question. The comparison is not really a good idea. These softwares have two different goals in mind with a common task to achieve their respective goal. Xenu Link Sleuth ATM crawl a site given a URL and perform a complete site URL check with complete report on demand. And it does it very well. URL Monit@r on the other hand does also a verification of URL but its goal is bookmark managing whatever come has URL captured by the clipboard and it does its task very well. Verification of URL here is on a case per case or thru a given list or complete URL list via the integrated browser (Xenu can also import a list of URL). Both program check URL but for two different goals as I said before. However you can check evolution of URL Monit@r here http://www.geocities.ws/tactictoe/URLMonitor_Progress.html. It will include functionality of Xenu Link Sleuth ATM without challenging this excellent software or trying to superseed this software neither copycat the work of this excellent software. The story of URL Monit@r is not finished. It stills evolves. Anyway thank you for asking, it needed to be asked as some people might be confused. So if you need a temporary bookmark manager for long internet session research URL Monit@r is your software, on the other hand if you need to verify a whole website with report Xenu Link Sleuth ATM is your software. Please also note Xenu Link Sleuth ATM is very light in size where URL Monit@ar is more hungry in mass storage size because its modern icon driven needs for functionality. I could have go all the way with menu and speedbutton with little size glyph to reduce the size to 1Mb but it would have reduce the appeals of the software dramatically.

Midas on 2016-03-12 11:36

Thanks for answering, tactictoe. My curiosity was purely academic, issuing from considering the opportunity of enhancing this entry with mention of alternatives, as is customary here at TPFC. As the author of URL Monit@r, you'll have to concede the possibility of bias in your appraisal. :)

The instructions no longer seem valid (there is no $_OUTDIR directory for example) and the download link is is now http://www.vibestreamer.com/downloads/

Though the version number seems to match. Strange.

Thanks, download link corrected. :)

smaragdus on 2015-04-21 00:28

It's a pity Vibe Streamer has been discontinued. The developer open-sourced it- https://github.com/versionstudio/vibestreamer , but its very unlikely that someone will take over the project. For me Vibe Streamer has two major flaws- it doesn't support Unicode and it can stream only lossy MP3s.
