By the author of Ubiquitous Player:

I've decided to stop updating this program. In 3 years I received exactly zero feedback on it, so I guess no one really uses it.

Thanks.

shnbwmn on 2016-05-17 21:37

So ... is this program being actively developed again now?

MIKLO on 2016-08-23 14:32

WOW this is still being updated I'm surprised but anytime someone is willing to improve their software 4me its a good thing. I used this some time back it does a lot of things but to me is just way to busy although it did work well when I used. :)

Advanced Renamer is stealth but the exiftool.exe within is not, it leaves behind a 19MB folder: AppData\Local\Temp\par-username\cache-exiftool-10.04.

Even if terminated properly, the folder stays.

@ joby_toss thanks for a great link that makes clear many useful things about portable installs :) Advanced Renamer is still my fav app for name changing one or many files,so user friendly.

@shnbwmn,
I tried every version past 5.60 to see if upgrading was warranted. None were, so I found desktop version 5.60 and I'm staying with that.

shnbwmn on 2016-12-08 20:41

Thanks.

@shnbwmn There have been a TON of changes that you can check out in the Softpedia changelog, but I don't know if there's any crucial updates that you're missing out on with the old version. The program was one of my favorites before the change, but since there I've mostly switched to Ant Renamer.

I did some recent testing on renamer tools and this and Advanced Renamer turned out to be the most flexible, especially when it came to command-line support. I looked into the undo feature of AR, but I thought it undid changes only on an error. Guess I was wrong about that. Will look into that again. Anyway, I mostly use the Bulk Rename Utility command-line now. Many of the other renamers have become outdated.

TP109 on 2015-11-02 21:27

error. I meant undo feature of Rename Master, not Advanced Renamer, although Advanced Renamer also has an undo feature, but in GUI only.

I tried this program and it does work fine but for me I much prefer Advanced Renamer,although they are similar everyone has a preference.
