@Redbeard I tried to export settings: I modified the .ini, changed some options, exported to "export tv.ini" in the same folder (i checked the file: it is not empty). Then I closed and reopened, but the settings were not automatically imported...

It is so unportable, it shouldn't even be listed on here.

If you wish to discuss, please take it to the Forums. The application should be listed here.

firewall popped up a message saying speccy was trying to access the internet...what's it doing?

a on 2010-08-26 16:52

I get that too, earlier versions of Recuva did the same thing. I think it's checking for updates, eventually that can be turned off via the options.

BovineMage on 2013-01-23 04:03

Nice, small program to check specs. Useful when you know absolutely nothing about the system you're working on, and just for occassional system temp checks.

spicydog: I think that would be a neat trick. My understanding is that there was a VoIP codec change so it's unlikely old versions will work with other users. Still, it's possible they included some backwards-compatibility tools for older devices.

JohnTHaller on 2014-10-10 00:05

I don't think Skype servers will permit older versions to log in anymore. Older versions have known security issues that are being actively exploited, so it does make sense.

Midas on 2014-10-10 10:29

Can anyone confirm user freewarelover's recipe will work with later Skype versions, i.e., v6.x? (see http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=503#comment12833)

If not, are there any similar valid instructions?
