I'm using the latest version of PhraseExpress Portable on XP Pro, but it's putting two files (config.xml and pexdesktop.xml) into my Documents and Setting/Application Data/PhraseExpress folder.

Is there any way to change where these files are stored, so that the true portability of this application can be made?

Ennovy on 2014-10-08 13:45

Please read above "How to extract"
Start de programm with the -portable parameter
and all settings are stored in the application folder

Had some problems with this program and 32-bit MS Office 2010 on Win7x64, causing a whole lot of crashing on PowerPoint and Word. Switched over to ArsClip ( on that machine. Update: same problems with ArsClip... will keep looking.

i use ditto to copy and paste with 1 key. key 1 for copy and key 2 for paste.

webfork on 2014-09-27 00:24

I've been using the 32-bit version on 64-bit windows for a month now and it seems to work better, I think potentially because I'm using 32-bit Microsoft Office.

FileMenu Tools now at version 6.7.1. The link supplied by smaragdus on 27 January is still good.

ESET says 6.8 installer includes OpenCandy...

joby_toss on 2015-08-04 17:40

Yes, it does! But the extracting instructions refer to the portable version, not the installer! Download the "FileMenuTools-portable.exe" file, not "FileMenuTools-setup.exe".
