SoftPerfect WiFi Guard is a tool for keeping a small WiFi network secure, indicating if your network is in use by an unwelcome connection. It's a specialized network scanner that runs through your network at set intervals and reports immediately if it finds any new connected devices that could belong to an intruder.

TeraCopy lets you copy or move files at the maximum possible speed. It uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times, as well as asynchronous copy to speed up file transfers between two physical hard drives. When an error is encountered during copying/moving, TeraCopy will automatically retry and skip the files that cannot be transferred instead of aborting the entire operation. It also shows failed file transfers and lets you recopy only problem files.

Once the destination directory is selected, files can be dragged-and-dropped onto the window, even while a transfer is in progress. Once files are transferred, the Verify option uses a hash check to see if files are identical.

Note that a Pro version of the program is available with additional features.

File Blender is a simple drag-and-drop file media file conversion tool to quickly and simply change basic aspects of files including format, with basic quality and effects that average users will need for daily use. CountryTraceRoute helps to diagnose the path and delay of information across the internet. The program is similar to the command-line tracert but much faster. CountryTraceRoute also displays the country of the owner of every IP address found in the traceroute, and ASN Network Carrier information per hop.

After the traceroute is completed, you can select all items (Ctrl+A) and then save them into csv/tab-delimited/html/xml file with 'Save Selected Items' option (Ctrl+S) or copy them to the clipboard (Ctrl+C) and then paste the result into Excel or other spreadsheet application.

RegDllView displays the list of all registered dll/ocx/exe files (COM registration). For each registered file, you can view the last date/time that it was registered, and the list of all registration entries (CLSID/ProgID).

The program also allows you to unregister dll/ocx files that you don't need on your system anymore. If you have dll/ocx files that don't exist on your system anymore but their registration entries still exist in the Registry, you can manually remove these entries by using 'Delete All Entries For Selected Files' option.

MyEventViewer is intended as an improved alternative to the standard Windows event viewer. The program allows the viewing of multiple event logs combined into one list, as well as the event description and data in the main window.  The program lets you easily select multiple event items and then save them to HTML/Text/XML file, or copy them to the clipboard (Ctrl+C) and paste them into Excel.

Quick Config is a powerful and convenient tool aimed at saving or changing various settings to a custom profile. Alternatively, Money Manager Ex Portable is stealth, portablizes the recently used files list and allows the last used file to automatically open. A winPenPack version is also available.

ActiveHotkeys detects what global keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) are currently registered on the computer by various applications. This helps you determine which hotkeys are in use, and which are still available.

Note: Functional only in 32-bit. Additionally, the inability to detect which application has registered a particular shortcut is an issue with Windows and not ActiveHotKeys.

WakeMeOnLan allows you to easily turn on one or more computers remotely by sending Wake-on-LAN (WOL) packet over the network. This will return machines from a standby or turned-off state, useful for administrators or to save electricity until resources are needed. WakeMeOnLan also allows you to scan your network and collect the MAC addresses of all online computers. This information can be exported to a file.

Additionally, an available command-line interface can turn on a computer using a computer name, IP address, or the MAC address of the remote network card.

FastStone Image Viewer is an image browser, viewer and converter that supports resizing, renaming, cropping, color adjustments, watermarks, lossless JPEG transitions, drop shadow effects, image frames, scanner support, histogram and more. Ant Renamer provides many options for the batch renaming of files and folders. The program includes the ability to change file extension, replace/insert/move strings, change case, even give files random names. The program can even rename based on date and time (great for scanned files) or using exif/mp3 tag info (making metadata the file name), or regular expressions. File renaming can be previewed before execution and changes can be added to a batch file and saved for future use.

ResophNotes is a straight-forward text-only note taker where the first line of a note becomes the title in the note list. Can sort by title or last modified date and able to email/print notes from app. Includes an easy indent system and support for markdown (text-to-HTML conversion) with preview. Can recover delete note(s), import text (.txt) file(s), import Outlook exported .csv file and Toodledo Notebook .csv file.

The program can sync securely online with the Simplenote service, which itself has a long list of possible software beyond ResophNotes, including for mobile devices like the iPhone, Android, and others.

i2pdf (image to pdf) is a fast and compact application built to create PDF documents from a collection of images, typically scanned from a paper source or in form of digital photographs. i2pdf allows control over the final quality and size of the images stored inside the PDF. Supports JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF and TIFF file formats.

Note multi page / multi-frame formats are not supported (for example, multi-page TIFFs or animated GIFs). Additionally, transparency data is not preserved whether a PNG or GIF file.

DiskInternals Linux Reader provides several disk management tools in an easy-to-use interface. Most notably it includes a tool for reading disks formatted to to a variety of file systems for Mac and Linux, as well as virtual disks from VMware, VirtualBox, VirtualPC and Parallels (VMDK, VHD, VDI, HDS). @icon sushi is an image-to-icon converter that supports alpha channel, transparency mask, WinXP 32-bit icons and multi-icon ICO files. It imports ICO, BMP, PNG, PSD, EXE, DLL and ICL files. It exports ICO, BMP, PNG and ICL files.

DPC Latency Checker analyzes the capabilities of a computer system to handle real-time data streams properly. It may help to find the cause for interruptions in real-time audio and video streams, also known as drop-outs.

ComicsViewer is an image viewer specially tailored to viewing scanned comics. The program can modify colors, contrast, and other elements on the fly and will rotates your view of images with your screen in portrait orientation. It has an available slide show,

The program can view most common graphics formats including Jpeg2000 and allows export to JPEG, BMP, and PNG. It is also able to directly display images stored in ZIP and RAR files (even with password protection).

LastActivityView collects information from various sources on a running system and displays a log of actions made by the user and events that occurred on the machine. Events include running .exe files, any open/save dialog-boxes, opening file/folder from Explorer or other software, software installation, system shutdown/start, application or system crash, network connection/disconnection and more.

Password Safe is a database for encrypting sensitive information. Once opened with a master password, you can copy a password and paste it directly into your application. Alternatively, Password Safe supports "Auto Type" that enters the username and password into the target application by simulating keystrokes.

The database is encrypted using the Twofish encryption algorithm. A Linux version (currently in Beta) is also available from the website.

Index Your Files allows you to search through all your files or folders on local or networked drives. Searching can be done by name, date, size, location etc., and boolean operators are available to to perform multiple keyword searches. You can invoke Windows Explorer context menus on found files to perform operations such as drag/drop, copy, rename, delete etc. It also includes internal viewers for text, HTML and image files.

As the name implies, the program must index the area before searching, but afterward searches almost instantly.

Note: v5.0.2.6 is effectively the last freeware version of IYF. The current version is named "IYF Pro", and is an extreme nagware (as described by webfork here) that is effectively just a commercial demo, so we have decided not to update this entry, but link to the Internet Archive for download of the last freeware version.

WaveShop is a fast and lightweight audio editor, which despite its name supports lots of different audio file formats, including MP3, FLAC, OGG/Vorbis, and AAC/MP4. The program is bit-perfect, meaning uncompressed audio samples aren't altered unless they need to be; editing a portion of an audio file only affects that portion and the rest of the file remains untouched. Cut and pasted audio blocks won't modify their contents. This is especially useful for patching a finished master without corrupting its dither. Other features include unlimited undo, peak and RMS analysis, normalizing, fading, audio generation, and more.

Note that the author recommends running the 64-bit version (if you have 64-bit Windows) as it can load bigger files without running out of memory.

Alternatively, WaveShop Portable automatically switches between 32 & 64-bit and portablizes paths. X-WaveShop is also available.

Bible Analyzer is a cross-platform study and analysis program with text comparison, proximity searches, detailed statistics, and more usually not found in other free or commercial software programs.

xplorer² is a tabbed, dual-pane file manager with tons of features, including folder size view, window layout management, item filtering, folder comparison/synchronization, batch renaming, and file split, merge and shred. Search function includes ability to look for text inside files, and text and script editors, as well as HTML, multimedia and image file preview.

xplorer² lite portable is a portable wrapper by SmithTechSoftware that writes settings to the application folder instead of the registry. Site has gone offline, linking to archive.org.

Note: The latest version of xplorer² lite available from the program's site maybe still compatible with SmithTechSoftware's portable wrapper (see the official forum topic and comments below).

Desktop Info displays system information on your desktop in a similar way to some other desktop information tools. Unlike others, this application looks like wallpaper but stays resident in memory and continues to update the display in real time. Uses very little memory and nearly zero CPU. Memory Booster is a lightweight RAM optimization tool, with RAM and CPU usage histogram. The program frees up memory in RAM by sending messages to Windows to clean up the workspace and for processes it no longer needs (Clear Processes Working Set). It is not a placebo memory optimization engine and will not force any memory out of RAM. Will continue to run periodically in the background to help improve the speed and the stability of your system.

cPicture is an image viewer that supports both images (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, RAW) and other media files (AVI, QT, MOV, MPEG, MP3, WMV). You can also use it to remove red-eye from your photos, as well as create a HTML index for your collection.

NK2Edit edits the "auto-complete" entries in Microsoft Outlook. Auto-complete is a useful feature to automatically suggest items based on the first few letters of the recipient, but over time can gather invalid or unwanted contacts. The name comes from the .NK2 file extension Outlook saves this email list to.

A 64-bit version (only for using with Outlook 2010/2013 64-bit) is available.

HFS (HTTP File Server) is a great tool for sharing files on any device with a web browser. Just setup the program, add files and folders via drag and drop, and connect to the web address. The web view is an easy-to-navigate page that provides search, a variety of view options, and even the capability to download files and folders in a single archive (TAR format).

Other features include user controls, uploading, speed limits, transfer logs, "expert" view, and IP bans. Note that to make the program available over the internet, a dynamic DNS-type service may be necessary.
