Thank you thank you thank you! guys for the info ;) I also recommend it to anyone and it's really portable, easy, and configurable/advanced yet. I use it with PHP and the DBS I'm using is the portable version of FireBird.
It's also convenient not to configure the web server all over again just because you changed the system it runs on ;)

sgt.mick on 2009-03-10 11:46

if you extract it manually, you have to create a "log" dir and an empty "cgi.log" (textfile) inside that dir.
otherwise you will get an error message and the server will not run.

Works great I have been using it for 2 years with no significant errors or bugs. Works well with ASP, PHP, MYSQL.

Has advanced features like easy web interface, hosts addition features. Log works with Webalizer and I use baretail to view logs in realtime

I prefer MoWeS (Modular Webserver System).

http://www.chsoftware.net/en/useware/mowes/mowes.htm

You can use MoWeS Mixer to download and choose from a whole list of application packages that will automatically install. Easy does it!
http://www.chsoftware.net/en/useware/mowesmixer/mowesmixer.htm
Next to this you can download and install external packages: http://www.mowesforum.chsoftware.net/topic/299/90-new-packages/

I've been using Uniform Server for a few years now and I really like it. With windows 7 there does seem to be an issue with stopping and starting the services for some reason. You can get around it by uninstalling the services through the right-click option on the tray menu icon but it won't work through the apanel web interface.
Even with that problem I am still too hooked on Uniform Server to even try anything else.

It seems v8.0 is out. Due to the big version jump I did not want to update the entry without testing.

@dany: I already did and he replay that we need to edit php.ini in SETTINGS directory, not the one in PHP directory - and it worked! So all is normal now... ;-)

dany on 2011-12-13 01:37

@bublible: Cool.
Come to think of it, you can access all settings through their gui except the php one, so I'm gonna mail a feature request for this ;)

lrgorby on 2014-01-04 16:12

@bublible: I think I found a solution for you if you have not gotten it or if others need it.

It appears the php.ini file is over written by the default file php.ini in the settings folder of USB Webserver.

Simply make changes to the settings/php.ini file and save it.

Serva32/64 is an easy-to-use server package supporting a variety of protocols including Web, FTP, TFTP client/server, DHCP and Proxy DHCP (PXE Service), DNS, SNTP, BINL and SYSLOG. Focused on the quick deployment of a stable platform running as many server protocol engines as possible, the program doesn't aim compete on with other server tools in terms of speed or security.

Serva32 also allows you to setup a server which you can use to install Windows over a network without Microsoft's RIS/WDS/WAIK suites.

Warning: as of version 2.0.0, the program has integrated a timed nagscreen at startup. Because any configuration change requires restart, we are linking to the last non-nagware version 1.5.0.

I partially share your opinion, but we're in minority. Recently I changed my mind about nag screens. I don't hate them anymore, as long as I can use the app for free. :)

b1001 on 2013-07-09 14:19

of course !
I wish I could convince Adobe to offer a "nagware" version of (let say) "Photoshop"

What it's done here it's a bit childish; if the application is not good erase the thing, if it is good just accept it as it is, but do not distribute buggy ancient versions.
