It's not mentioned but it requires admin rights to install a driver. Does it remove the driver on system reboot? I don't know, I couldn't find out very much information besides "there's no installation required". The developer proclaims "It's so simple to use, you don't need documentation." LOL. So much for that.

Last but not least GPU-Z and CPU-Z just share similar names, they are developed independently afaik.

It's not stealth. Where the files or regs stored?

...sorry, my previous comment only applies to the stable version 1.4.7 - changing "HKCU\Software\QtProject.." to "HKCU\Software\Trolltech.." in "ScribusPortable.ini" does it.
The test version (1.5.4) is stealth out of the box.

Scribus 1.5.8 released See https://www.scribus.net/scribus-1-5-8-released/
" The Scribus Team is pleased to announce the release of version 1.5.8. Like previous releases, work on version 1.5.8 focused mostly on bugfixes and code optimizations, the latter of which are expected to lead to reliability and speed improvements. We have also begun to prepare Scribus for using Qt6, which will make our work easier for future releases. "

I am not sure this release i portable, since itis not a "paf" file.

I tried this a week or so ago and wasn't really impressed.
It might be great software but it's just not for me.

One thing I just this second noticed though was a 5MB profile folder in my application data folder under the name Greyfirst.

Maybe I used the wrong settings but it should also be pointed out I think

Tashi on 2008-01-04 19:04

I've used this software for quite a while. It is specifically for writing screenplays. So if you want to write a script for your short film or a screenplay contest, this software rocks. It is feature rich. Otherwise if you are looking for something browser related, or a word processor, best to look elsewhere.

With integrated compression, up to 3MB can be stored on one sheet of A4/Letter paper. For data restoration, you will need a scanner with physical resolution that is 3-times the print resolution.

Hm, so I would have to use about a thousand pieces of paper to back up my latest snapshots... very efficient *g*

donald on 2010-06-10 14:04

Imagine saving something useful but small like a password or text encryption program.

This could outlast the flash memory you may have such a program stored on and allow for later recovery. (Acid free paper, sealed container with CO2 and no Oxygen)

And no it is not practical for very large files but I have heard that "small is beautiful"

MoisheP on 2013-12-19 21:05

Wonderful idea, thinking outside the box (or QR Matrix, as it were)! This opens up the door to many other possibilities...
Would it be possible to use a dot-matrix printer on aluminum foil?
How about laser printing on plastic film?
Steganography is another possibility: laser printers already do so - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printer_steganography
