TeraCopy v3.0.8 Updated

ashghost on 17 Mar 2017
  • 13MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 16 Mar 2017
  • Suggested by AntBond

TeraCopy lets you copy or move files at the maximum possible speed. It uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times, as well as asynchronous copy to speed up file transfers between two physical hard drives. When an error is encountered during copying/moving, TeraCopy will automatically retry and skip the files that cannot be transferred instead of aborting the entire operation. It also shows failed file transfers and lets you recopy only problem files.

Once the destination directory is selected, files can be dragged-and-dropped onto the window, even while a transfer is in progress. Once files are transferred, the Verify option uses a CRC check to see if files are identical.

System Requirements: Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? No. Creates a couple of tiny files in the user folder.
Unicode support: Yes
License: Freeware
How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and launch
  2. Choose the destination folder
  3. Select "Portable version" and uncheck the option to "Associate with checksum files"
  4. Launch TeraCopy.exe
Similar/alternative apps: Fastcopy

I feel as though the size of this application is incorrect. Even after deleting all unnecessary items the size of my TeraCopy is still 3.35MB. Is there something that I am missing?

Checker on 2015-03-25 03:26

@ BottleOfWater: Thanks ... and corrected ;)

FastCopy v3.30 Updated

  • 534KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 6 Mar 2017
  • Suggested by pplknownothin

FastCopy is a file copy and synchronization tool with a variety of available extras. It uses different strategies (multi-threading, buffering) to help ensure maximum device throughput, as well as optional verification to make sure data is transferred correctly. It does not use the system cache, so other processes do not get bogged down during the copy process and a speed setting is also available, including pause. It supports Unix-style include/exclude wildcards filters.

Alternatively, PortableApps' FastCopy Portable is also available.

System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes
License: GPLv3
How to extract:
  1. Download the "Installer" ZIP package based on your OS (32bit or 64bit) and extract to a folder of your choice
  2. Delete setup.exe, FastEx64.dll and FastExt1.dll
  3. Launch FastCopy.exe
What's new?

  • Misc refine.

@webfork I tried that, but it did not give any option. It just overwrote without asking. What I would like is, if there are files with same name, give me option in popup. Sometimes I will overwrite, sometimes I will cancel it and otherwise I may want to rename it.

webfork on 2016-01-31 00:56

@ripu: I misunderstood your question - I'd recommend Dsynchronize with "Ask before replacing files" checked, though it won't help with the rename element.

Copy Handler v1.44

Copy Handler 1.40alpha-svn465 released!

I found this program to be very confusing. Strongly recommend SuperCopier or TeraCopy over this.

You may have a look at WinMend File Copy - which is also very easy to use.

According to the website the most recent version is 1.4.1 but the download contains version 1.5.6 as smaragdus mentions. I could not find a changelog.
I prefer TeraCopy but I voted to add WinMend File Copy to the database so that other visitors of TPFC can evaluate this software.

smaragdus on 2016-04-07 19:42

Thanks, at least WinMend File Copy is fully free while TeraCopy has a Pro version, just like Supercopier and Ultracopier.

smaragdus on 2016-11-02 18:46

WinMend File Copy at version but I think that the extraction procedure is a bit different- in the "{app}" folder there are two DLLs which are the same- "drag,1.dll" and "drag,2.dll"- one of them should be renamed to "drag.dll" and the other should be deleted. Optionally- "checkupdate.exe" and "LiveUpdate.exe" also can be deleted.

This is one ugly app though.

Although it has a somewhat confusing interface, once learned, it's been the most reliable and easy-to-setup program I've used of this type. Perfect for copying/updating files to multiple directories that are all over the place.
