Checker on 5 Aug 2014

MAME (formerly MAME32) is the Win32 GUI version of MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator), a hardware emulator that enables you to play many ancient, long-lost arcade games and even some newer ones. To actually play any games, you will still need to google for the actual ROM files and add them to MAME32.

How to extract: Download the self-extracting EXE and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch MameUI32.exe.

Note: This is just the emulator. You need "ROMs" which are the actual games to play. You can find a few on MAME's homepage, but for truly classic game ROMs visit here. Put extracted "ROMs" in "ROMS" directory of MAME, start and play!

Smurf, that looks sweet, if it is portable I suggest this be added to database. (possibly as a replacement?)

There's a note:
D-Fend Reloaded may be installed in a portable operation mode (for USB-Sticks etc.).

My eyes lit up when I read that.

SYSTEM on 2011-07-17 09:39

I have updated the extraction instructions. Chris Morgan had pointed out that DOSBox is not portable if launched without any command-line switches.

Thanks Chris. :)
