Still loving this program. It worked well on Vista, and it still works great on my upgrade (yes upgrade) to XP SP3. I just recently used it to disable some unneeded stuff launching with my partition backup program. thanks.
This application really helped me out a lot. It's also useful for changing junk from Local User to Local Machine (which has certain benefits across profiles). I like how it's really easy to enable|disable stuff and it can be configured to show some stuff that won't show up in the Windows "services" listings. For example, you can see the UDF support process and other stuff like that. A nice program that compliments this one is Win Seizer. With Win Seizer, you can stop the hidden connection tray window for example, which isn't needed if you're not on the internet. Both programs, especially this one, are good for showing stuff that got installed into the boot chain and disabling or modifying it. Also, you can create your own entries, as you like them, if you want something like gMote (for example) to run at boot regardless of whether or not Windows Explorer is running or not. I haven't had any problems with this application. Thanks very much to the author of Starter.exe.
A much, smaller alternative to this program is Nir's WhatInStartup:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/what_run_in_startup.html
A very advanced startup control software that provides an abundance of information on your startup programs. Probably more than the average user will want but power users will be right at home.
Can save some space by deleting non-english LNG files.
great software, if the website is down. they have mirror websites: http://codestuff.mirrorz.com/, so http://codestuff.tripod.com/ would be the one to link too.
Emka: entry updated. This is one of my favorite system programs so I was very happy to get this back online. Although it doesn't list support for it, I had no trouble using it successfully in Windows 7.
