I agree, minimizing to tray and hotkey would make this perfect.
It works great from my mp3 player. It can use the random playlist the mp3 player generated so I dont miss the random button so much.

lautrepay on 2012-02-05 23:16

I'm afraid that hotkey support is not in the immediate plans of Mr. Pawlowski for Boom: "Noteworthy features currently missing:
Internet radio playback is not supported.
No easy way to integrate with Windows Explorer other than manually going through "open with" / "choose default program" for every relevant file type.
No audio CD playback."
Just a guess, but with this GUI I think the target is touchscreens...

User2100 on 2014-11-29 19:45

There are lighter lightweight players with more features, but this is a single executable player that doesn't seem to "cheat" by using OS decoders. It starts instantly and the interface looks very nice (truly minimalistic and not just tiny and clumped up). I'm very much missing a time slider though. That's not a small feature to leave out of a media player. It only has fast forward and reverse, which is not very useful for things like skimming trough mixes.

Not true, Kitty (0.65.0.0 plain vanilla, md5: 4cce0b4f7670492fe06fcb9b673de8d7) + kitty.ini (with savemode=dir) It's not portable, It writes this:
c:\Users\AppData\Roaming\KiTTY\
c:\Users\Application Data\KiTTY\

Midas on 2015-11-15 20:39

@siegfried: I confirm your findings, even after adding a "configdir=" key with a relative path.

I'm not sure the program isn't portable like that, but it sure isn't stealth. In my defense, the method I mentioned was working in prior versions (see above). I posted the issue in KiTTY's forum: http://www.9bis.net/kitty/?action=forum&id=0653 ... :(

BTW, this update (and the lack of changelog thereof) is probably caused by a version and code synch with PuTTY, which was prompted by a newly found vulnerability patch:

"2015-11-07 PuTTY 0.66 released, fixing a SECURITY HOLE
PuTTY 0.66, released today, fixes a security hole in 0.65 and before: vuln-ech-overflow."

Fixitman on 2016-10-17 14:07

I use the following version (on XP) and see no need to update it.
If you're having problems try the old version (your problems might then be attributed to an updated OS such as Windows 7 or later, which I refuse to use, especially the buggiest of them all, Windows 10)
I see comments above about file extensions, but I've NEVER had that problem, don't those people do the "save as" button? This version has that.
When on Linux I don't need this, as it has its own text editors that are better than anything Microsoft ever issued, to start with!

"December 19 2010-- Notepad++ v5.8.6
In this new release, a minimalist package is added.
It contains only the files needed to run Notepad++ with no plugins, no themes, no autocompletion API files, no auto-updater and no localization files.
The package is much smaller and Notepad++ will run faster."

Craunch on 2012-07-03 13:45

Midas, I've just been playing with this and ran into the problem you described. On investigation I realised that there are two type of environment variables: Text String and Expandable String. Text String variables (orange tag) will not expand contained references to other environment variables when they are used. Expandable String variables (blue tag) will expand their references when used. You can change their type by F6 or via the right-click menu. These two types seem to be a feature of how Windows now stores environment variables internally.

A few judicious type changes got my environment where I wanted it to be.

Thanks for that, Craunch. Vital info, IMHO. I'll look into it ASAP. :)

Both Nirsoft's TCPLogView and Sysinternals' TCPview offer about the same set of functionalities.

However, the alternative Sysinternals' TCPview might have a slight edge in its skilled use of color background for highlighting DYNAMIC TCP connections activities:

It feels nimbler at popping up a log line (on a green background) for each transient new active connections and at briefly flashing an existing log line (on red background) before its connection is torn down.

TCPLogView Version 1.15 released 19-MAR-2105:

Added 'Write To Log File' option. When it's turned on, all log lines are automatically written to TcpLogView.csv located in the same folder of TcpLogView.exe

I've used this heavily every day for several years. It's golden. Like most good software, there's a learning curve, but the flexibility and precision of this program rewards your effort.

hamasaki on 2013-04-24 07:33

Agree with Crid. Might have had some issues initially, but I use it regularly each day without issues. Its such a timesaver. And having the shortcut to pop up the menu is superb. Not seen any other clipboard utlities come close to this one.

hamasaki on 2013-07-29 12:41

I think Arsclip makes all other clipboard utilities redundant, its that good. Could have a better name though.

Hello Skwire,

Here is a list of bugs I encountered after a couple of minutes testing it:
-It doesn't always show app icon in about child GUI, I think your better of using static control and STM instead of picture control, less embarrassing.
-Use "UseErrorLevel" when running a link in case there is no default browser.
-Very slow startup.

webfork on 2013-05-05 20:50

Ganamyde: recommend posting that to forums (I just added an official forum thread to the entry). Also, I'd include which version of Windows you're using.

@apometron
What you state is not true, both Pidgin and Miranda NG can connect to Facebook via plug-ins. It is not Miranda IM and Pidgin fault that evil Facebook dumped open-source XMPP (Jabber) protocol in favour of a proprietary, closed-source one. Anyway, using Facebook for communication is the worst choice possible.

Specular on 2016-03-11 09:03

I think if Miranda IM doesn't support Facebook it could simply be removed from the description. If Miranda NG works with it it might be worth adding to its entry for users who are looking for the support.

smaragdus on 2016-06-26 20:08

Miranda IM 0.10.53 fails to connect to AOL while Miranda NG 0.95.5 connects fine. Not that I need AOL, just an observation.

I tried Snipaste for awhile and gave it an honest chance but 4me it doesn't compare to zScreen (I use older version) which I have used for a very long time. I'm really open to finding and using a new or different screen capture pgm. I just haven't found it yet. Not to take anything away from Snipaste cuz in fact it is a good app and easy to use.
