Tested on Windows 10 64bit:
After closing Chrome and the PortableApps.com platform 13.0 I found files in this folder:
C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
AND in the registry I found settings in these keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Google\Chrome\PreReadFieldTrial
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Google\Chrome

There was a Crashpad issue causing the APPDATA directory to be left behind that was fixed in today's releases. I can't reproduce the others on any OS. Please post a complete bug report in the support forum here: http://portableapps.com/forums/support/other_apps We have hundreds of apps and bug reports as comments on another site often won't be seen and won't wind up being addressed, at least not in a timely manner.

@JohnTHaller: Thank you for the new release. Regarding the registry entries that are left behind I will post in the forum.

I just noticed that when FF Portable is closed it leaves behind a folder in AppData :
C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Pending Pings

Using v55 btw.

If I delete the Mozilla folder in AppData, run and immediately close FF Portable, that folder is left behind.

@gbrao: Try using Firefox Portable from portableapps.com instead.

@gbrao: thanks for posting about this -- I've added something to the forum about that topic.

I'm now convinced the newly found CDisplay Ex innounp extract fail is definitely an adware countermeasure -- please find an alternative viewer if you can...

CDisplay Ex is on v1.10.30, but uniextraction fails (with innounp 0.42).

NW Docx Converter v4.4 Updated

lintalist on 18 Aug 2017

NW Docx Converter (formerly Docx2Rtf) is a feature-rich file conversion and PDF tool set. As the name implies, it can convert Word 2007 DOCX/DOTX to RTF or PDF format without installing Word. However, Docx2Rtf has many more features including the ability to open, modify, view, print, and convert to PDF from many file types including LibreOffice SXW/ODT, HTML, RTF, Palm, PhotoShop, TIFF, PDF, and many more. Can rearrange and delete PDF file pages.

Converted formatting and images are not always identical to their original versions, but maintains basic information. Also capable of displaying a page-by-page layout view of what was retrieved and lets you send it to the printer or batch convert entire folders via the command line.

Functional in Linux using Wine.

Also leaves C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Application Data\NwDocx\document.xml and document.xml.rels that contain all of the information in the last document opened !!!!! This is NOT nice !!!!!

webfork on 2012-03-19 02:26

Neutron: True -- newer versions started writing files to AppData. The empty file trick should fix that.

webfork on 2013-02-16 00:15

Comment: viewing quality of several DOC and DOCX format files was fairly simple. Both LibreOffice and AbiWord seemed like better converters, although this would be great for getting at the document's core text.
