WinCompose allows the insertion of special characters such as é ž à Û ø ¤ « ¿ ® ™ using short and often very intuitive key combinations. For instance, ö is obtained using o + " and ™ is obtained using T + M.

The program is based on the well known Unix compose key and WinCompose ships with more than 2,000 compose rules.

Alternatively, XMPlay is natively portable but does not automatically adjust library and playlist paths: download the ZIP package, extract to a folder of your choice and launch xmplay.exe.

Universal Extractor 2 is an easy-to-use extraction program that works on a long list of file types including standard compression formats like ZIP, RAR and 7Z files, as well as program installers, disk images, audio/video and many more. The program also includes an "scan" option to view available data on a setup file, integrated updater, improved status box, new detection methods for files, batch extraction, plugin support and more.

The program is an unofficial fork of Universal Extractor.

nomacs is an easy to use image viewer with basic edit features and folder preview. The program includes image manipulation including rotate, adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation etc. and includes a pseudo color feature for creating false color images. It will even synchronization multiple instances to allow image comparison of the same position on different images.

The program can view images inside archives or MS Office files.

The program will also back up Firefox Portable and backed up files are saved to .PCV files, compatible with standard ZIP tools.

The program has sleep timer and other auto-shut off settings to avoid wasting bandwidth. It supports Shoutcast and Icecast MP3, Icecast OGG Vorbis, WMA, AAC and AAC+ streaming.

Note that an earlier version of the program (v0.44) supports recording, does not require dotNET and is stealth.

Free Download Manager (FDM) is a feature-rich tool for handling and accelerating downloads. Includes a site explorer, offline website downloader, scheduler, video downloader (YouTube, Google Video etc.), BitTorrent support and more. An included media file preview prevents downloading mislabeled music or video while a ZIP file preview tool saves download time and bandwidth by selectively removing unneeded parts. A hash check capability can verify downloads and the program can be controlled remotely over the Internet (fdmwi.exe).

Especially useful to overcome unreliable/slow connections that require frequent download restarts, when bandwidth is at a premium, or for very large files.

Alternatively, Free Download Manager Portable is available, as well as a "lite" version, which has not been tested for portability.

NOTE: The program will now prompt for upgrade to the newest version on startup, which is not portable (thanks Joby) and uses a closed-source license.

LookDisk is a fast and effective file, text, and duplicate search tool that supports searching with specific parameters. Includes support for searching archive files (e.g. .ZIP files). Displays a disk overview (size and free space).

MultiBootUSB can put one or more bootable tools into a single USB drive, including any of a variety of Linux, FreeBSD and other operating systems.

The program uses Syslinux for installing MBR and 7-Zip for extracting ISO images. It also uses a Windows version of CPIO program for installing certain distros. USB/ISO can be tested without reboot via a built-in QEMU program.

DiskInternals ZIP Repair rebuilds the Zip structure and then extracts the recovered contents of the archive. The application has a wizard-like interface.

PeaExtractor is a easy, minimalistic tool for unpacking almost any compressed file format. Features a search tool, progress bar and drag-and-drop functionality. The program can unpack over 180 formats including encrypted or multi-volume archives (usually a series like .000, .001 or .r01, .z01...) as well as standard formats like 7z, rar, tar, zip, zipx, bzip2, cab, iso etc.

The program aims to function as a simple, accessible alternative to file manager-like interfaces used by WinRAR, WinZip and 7-Zip. Cross-platform (Linux, BSD) and developed by the author of PeaZip.

ExcelPass easily adds password protection to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF and ZIP files. Opera (Presto) is a discontinued version of the Opera web browser, meaning feature development and maintenance for this version of Opera has ceased. Compared to the newer version based on Google Chrome, it features a leaner memory footprint, more user-interface customization, an RSS reader, integrated e-mail client, IRC chat, and native BitTorrent support. A variety of extensions are available to further extend functionality.

Includes a minimalistic interface with a wide variety of view options including rotation, slideshow, resizing, thumbnails, smooth scrolling, and more. SpReader is an image viewer for displaying page spread for example from a comic or magazine that has two files for each pane of a full spread or a picture cut into two parts for size. The images within ZIP can be displayed directly.

ZipInstaller installs and uninstalls applications and utilities that do not provide an internal installation program. DownTester tests your Internet download speed by connecting and downloading from multiple locations. It will sequentially test the download speed of URLs that you choose, going to the next after specified number of seconds has been elapsed or after it downloads the specified amount of KB according to your preferences.

DownTester can also do a more limited test the download speed of your local network (for example: \\MyComp\myfile.zip). Because the program uses the number of bytes read from the file, instead of counting the number of bytes transferred over the network, this may not be an accurate speed test. A slow connection may be caused by computers on your network and not your network hardware.
