@Cornflower: Seems like the 32-bit ZIP is also available now. I have updated both download links.

Also note that virtually every new release updates some plugins, and version 4.65 is no exception. Most users may want to go to https://www.irfanview.com/plugins.htm and download the 32- or 64-bit package, and dump them into the Irfanview Plugins subdirectory.

I notice in 4.67 that the OCR plugin is updated. It suggests using the Tesseract OCR, which I suspect is not portable. When I test it I will be looking to see if it can be made portable, and if it works with 32-bit Irfanview (there are a number of limitations with the 64-bit Irfanview so I am staying there). |
GifCam is a handy and reliable application designed to record the screen and to convert the recordings into GIF format. It supports to define the recording frame rate, to select the color quality, to add a text in frames, capture the cursor and much more.
Great for demonstrations, how-tos and bug testing.

I fully agree with Miklo, having used FastStone for several years, I really like it: does everything I want almost intuitively.I still use version 6.4 . Tried to use the last version 7.6 but reversed to the previous one because in the last release there is a bug in the Multi-Page File Builder to created an Animated GIF (Alt+M):. the resulting GIF file shows only the first 2 loaded images then stops. |
FocusOn Image Viewer lets you view, organize, and make changes to images without modifying the original. The program includes edition tools like color, brightness, rotation, frames, and various filters. Thumbnail views, broad image format support, easy sharing, and metadata tools are also available. Trimto is an image editor to crop, resize, and save in one operation. The program focuses on standard-sizing and a set aspect ratio. Optionally, "Sharpen Edge" and "Auto Correction" can be processed simultaneously. Useful for quickly reducing the size of photos with unnecessary borders or lots of activity on the periphery (e.g. distractions like flags, crowds, power-lines, etc.).
Includes sizing presets and output size details to file name. Input and output formats include PNG, JPG, TIFF, GIF, and BMP.

Cool program, but wish I could just do a free mouse crop (draw a rectangle of any size or shape) on this program to crop.

Totally agree with webfork. A great little utility, but the ability to draw a freehand rectangle would be fantastic. Nevertheless, it's still a keeper!

RIOT (Radical Image Optimization Tool) presents a before-and-after image compression view that allows you to reduce file size of an image into JPG, PNG, or GIF format. Includes optional metadata removal, batch operations, compression to a target file size, transparency options, and other common editing functions (flip, rotate, zoom, pan). Notable versus similar software in the ability to gradually reduce the available colors one-by-one (7, 8, 9, 10...), not just milestones of 16, 32, 64 etc.
The program is also available as a plugin for XnView, GIMP, or Irfanview (see website).
Functional in Linux using Wine. Many of the official entries here on PortableFreeware have used RIOT for compression. Note that the installer version of this program is considered adware.

The 32-bit version is still at v1.0.1, but the latest 64-bit version is 2023.12.0 |
JPEGView is a minimalistic viewer/editor designed to view images from digital cameras full screen and with highest quality possible. Basic image editing functionality is provided, allowing correction for typical problems as color cast, high/low contrast, orientation and under- or overexposure very quickly and interactively during review of the images. The program can view and save JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF, or WEBP. Includes batch rename and copy features.
While JPEGView is not intended as a replacement for a full-blown image editor, the included tool set of commonly-used modifications means such editors should be needed less often.
A 64-bit version is available (within the folder).
Alternatively, JPEGView Portable is also available from PortableApps.

Re my previous comment: This was with the 32-bit version. I have no way of knowing how the 64-bit version deals with transparencies, as I can't run it on my machine. At any rate, viewing them is OK; just don't save them from JPEGView.

I've been using this program for many years. I also have set this as my default Jpg viewer. It is super fast, preloads the next image before you view it so there is no white screen flash between images.

FreeVimager (version 5.1.0) creates "FreeVimagerShared" folder in Temp: |
BatchBlitz is a batch image processor with an included photo edit program. It allows you to add a watermarks, filter source files, rename/convert images, resize/rotate, automatically apply color corrections and more.
