robertcollier4 - The Regshot2 you are posting about is a different app. It's either a totally different freeware app that copied the layout or an app illegally using the real Regshot's code as a base and not distributing the newer source as required by the GPL. Either way, this entry is about the real Regshot, which is open source, Unicode, portable and has 32-bit and 64-bit versions (the PortableApps.com version even switches between them automatically). It's also under active development unlike 'RegShot2' which is abandoned.

Gridy v0.70

Checker on 22 Nov 2015
  • 825KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 22 Nov 2015
  • Suggested by modussn

Gridy adds an invisible grid on your desktop so that any window you move or resize is snapped to it. This helps maximize screen real estate by making windows placed adjacent to each other dynamically adjust to avoid overlapping.

Snapping to the grid is enabled with mouse drag or keyboard arrow keys. Gridy also lets you store and restore a window's size and position in up to 9 slots. This is useful for quickly arranging your windows in a convenient way. In addition, you can hide the window's Alt-Tab icon, and set any window semi-transparent or to "Always on Top."

Written in AutoHotkey.

Just upgraded from a 19" 1280x1024 to a 24" 1920x1200 monitor, and 'side by side' or 'stacked' just didn't cut it any more! A brilliant app, easy to get the hang of, I have my standard workspace of one main and three minor windows at my command. Thanks!

fSekrit v1.4

smaragdus on 25 May 2018
  • 57KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 3 Dec 2009
  • Suggested by dasfx

fSekrit is a notepad that encrypts saved information in self-contained executable (.EXE) files. Created files don't need fSekrit and can be access by simply double-clicking the item and entering the correct password.

Uses the widely recognized 256-bit AES encryption and unencrypted data is never saved to disk, making it even more secure.

Functional in 64-bit.

Category:
Runs on:Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: None
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: No
License: Freeware/Open Source (github)
How to extract:
  1. Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice.
  2. Create a new file called fSekrit.portable
  3. Launch fSekrit.exe.
Similar/alternative apps: CryptoTE
What's new? - fixed: long-standing bug where failing to save changes when closing fSekrit
with a modified document would cause fSekrit to exit, rather than notifying of
error and let user attempt to save again.
- fixed: saves are *finally* done properly, by saving to a temporary file and
replacing the current file only when all the file writing business is done.
- added: font selection dialog, no longer do you need to much around with the
registry to set another default font. The font is still not stored in your
document, though, and is single global per-user registry setting.
- added: "portable" mode, which (for now) means it will not use %TEMP% to store
it's temporary editor executable, but instead store it in the same folder as
the opened document. Registry is still used for font selection, though!
To enabel this feature, create a file called "fSekrit.portable" in the same
folder as the document you want to function in portable mode.
- added: URLs are now recognized and turned into hyperlinks.
- fixed: Read-only notes should be a lot more sane - changed from confusing
"make read-only" that half-worked to "Save As Read-only" that works :)
- fixed: Win9x and NT4 support has been broken since version 1.35. Release builds
are now done with an older compiler toolchain, and 9x/NT4 support is back :)

You can easily get the fsekrit program from the wayback machine at:
https://web.archive.org/web/20170214195855/http://f0dder.dcmembers.com/fsekrit.index.php it says it is also valid for Win7 use.

Sherman J on 2018-05-26 12:56

I found that the version of the zip for fsekrit on the waybackmachine for 2015 is valid at 49kbytes size, the some in later snapshots are only 10kbytes and do not work.

smaragdus on 2018-05-26 18:53

@Sherman J
You do not need to download fSekrit from The Internet Archive, you can get it from its official website.

No matter what IMO Media Player Classic has always been, and will always be the best overall Media Player. I've been using for a very long time on many different OS's and it fulfilled my needs on all of them. I like the look and all the rest, maybe I'm being partial but so what it works 4me :) Great job by the makers so thanks for the hard work.

@Peter202: You will have to take a look at each program documentation (help files, wiki pages, even forums).

Midas on 2014-05-23 14:01

According to Softpedia, which rates it with 4 stars, current Types version is v2.1.6.10711, but I couldn't find a changelog anywhere, or any program info for that matter (see http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Types.shtml).

Softpedia also indicates DotNET requirement is v2.0, but the framework pointed to by the program site (see ahead) is v3.5. As user Tertius noted above, the new Types site address is http://izt.name/apps/types/ -- the old page at http://sourceforge.net/projects/types/ is now mostly blank...
