This program crashed when trying to do a comparison between a local SBS 2003 folder and a remote , mapped network drive (Linux Samba).

Got to about 1700 files and crashed. Originally thought it was when 500 differences were found but the crash seems to be related to numbe rof files parsed.
Four crashes, gave up.

ThunderbirdPassDecryptor v1.7

webfork on 8 Jul 2016
  • 1MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on
  • Suggested by guinness

ThunderbirdPassDecryptor is a tool that recovers the stored mail account password by Mozilla Thunderbird. You can also use it to recover the Thunderbird account passwords from another system (i.e. a backup or profile folder).

Note:

  • If a "master" password is set, other passwords are not accessible without it. The publisher offers a command-line FireMaster to try and brute-force the protection. Strong passwords (15+ characters) are not worthwhile to brute-force.
  • The main website download link has switch to an encrypted installer. Linking to softpedia.

@Sam - I know this is a little late, but use Lupo's Universal Extractor (http://www.lupopensuite.com/db/universalextractor.htm). I just used it and it works.

WebVideoCap allows you to capture Flash video format (.FLV) files and RTSP/MMS video streams downloaded in your web browser. After the entire video file is downloaded and played by the Web browser, the video file is saved in the folder that you selected, and save and to play offline. The program can capture the video files of most popular video-sharing sites, including YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo Video, iFilm, Metacafe, Putfile etc.

Note: You can use WebVideoCap under Windows Vista with SP1, but you must download and install the WinPcap driver, and select the WinPcap driver as the capture method, so it is functional but not portable.

Use a web-based downloader such as: http://keepvid.com
I works great with youtube.

BlueFish File Mirror v1.8b

I am Baas on 13 Dec 2015
  • 577KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on
  • Suggested by I am Baas

BlueFish File Mirror monitors two identical folders (up to 100) and maintains any changes, copying to another root folder in real-time. Supports large file operations (over 4 gigs).

Limitations:

  • BlueFish can only mirror changes after it starts, so folders must be identical before running the program. Also, the BlueFish only monitors physical file changes, not attributes such as date, time, and read-only changes.
  • Does not support unicode path names

Note: this program is offline, switched download location to Softpedia.

How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch Config.exe to configure program settings (writes to config.ini), then launch BlueFish.exe.
What's new?
  • Minor bug fixes.
  • Fixes a bug in configurator which makes the excluded folders not be excluded.

I tried BlueFish on my laptop to keep the "My Documents" folder in sync with my main desktop computer and it does work nicely, although not in the way I thought it would.

I chose to monitor the "My Documents" folder on my Windows XP laptop and have it mirrored to the "Documents" folder on my desktop computer running Vista. BlueFish started by mirroring the entire folder structure containing the "My Documents" folder, so there was a new folder called "Documents and Settings" under the "Documents" folder on my Vista computer.

It would be nice to choose the My Documents folder to be the root folder rather than have BlueFish mirror the entire folder structure in which "Documents and Settings" is the root. I don't foresee this problem if the two computers being synchronized are both running the same version of Windows.

I don't mean to make such a long post and I'm not putting this program down as I do think it has potential. I'm going to see if I can find a workaround to sync my folders across two different operating systems.

MetaPath v4.0.13

Checker on 24 Jun 2012
  • 122KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on
  • Suggested by ashghost

Metapath is designed to be a slim file browser, set to open every file with the same application (i.e. a text editor). You can, however, change this setting so that each file opens with its Windows default application, or you can right-click on a file to choose the set application. Simple file manager actions are provided (copy, move, create link, rename, delete, save as...) along with the ability to set a filter and sort by name, file-type, size, or date.

It integrates well with Notepad2 and it's possible to add a "Browse" button to the toolbar, which brings up Metapath (if stored in the same directory.)

The setting for the "target application" (the default application with which to open every file) takes a standard relative path, but the location settings for a "quick viewer" and the "Favorites" folder do not. For example, "\Apps\UniversalViewer\Viewer.exe", but not "..\UniversalViewer\Viewer.exe".

  • Move window to default position (Ctrl+Shift+P)
  • Improved compatibility with Windows 7
  • Released x64 build of metapath.exe

This little utility does have some potential.
There are some problems though, things like it's not very portable, you can't enter 'relative' paths for things like the viewer, it needs to have a drive letter.
It doesn't show the file extensions.
If you want to use a text editor other than 'Notepad2', well, tough.
You don't seem to be able to select multiple files to copy or move.

I'll keep an eye on this, if it can be improved then i could use it.

this is indeed a very robust renamer!

im torn between this and Advanced Renamer :(
http://www.portablefreeware.com./index.php?id=1848

both are great, coming from payware 'Better File Renamer', both these freeware offer every naming scheme/option!

this seems to provide more support for multi-languages.
i will probably make the switch to this.

great add.!

Magibon on 2011-03-10 01:41

i take that back, i just tried using this and im disappointed in the interface.

sadly, the abundance of features make it very difficult to use.

im sticking with Advanced Renamer, while it doesn't provide support for multilanguages, it's interface is much more user-friendly. simplicity and ease of use for me is important.

i'll use this only when required for multilanguages, but for everyday usage, im sticking with Advanced Renamer.

ripu on 2015-11-02 10:41

I tried to use latest zip (8.4), could not do anything. There was no option to add rules. May be something is wrong with the UI or it does not support Windows 8.1 N version.

quote @tc: You can stop the intro photo by editing photoscape.cfg, and turning intro.photoOn from on to off. You could also edit the url, to point to a local image

I installed on USB with 7zip.
In addition to tc's message: if you make photoscape.cfg read-only, it will keep it's settings in the cfg file.

I also deleted the plugins dir (unwanted toolbar in there), and renamed the file PSMsgHook.dll in the main folder to PSMsgHook.dllold.
