Download link broken...

dot on 2017-08-05 07:57

I strongly suppose that, every time you enter a search, this program will connect not only to the Longman database but will also establish connections either to Google or Amazon (the two biggest tracking firms this poor, abused globe has ever seen). The website with the pure online version doesn't even load if I block Amazon. If someone else tests it and finds out that it doesn't connect either to Google or Amazon, I will download it. :-)

Though v. 13.93 is available here, at Portable Freeware, the MS site only has v. 13.91 . Is this version again being recalled by MS?

dmiranda on 2021-04-24 23:08

It doesn't work on XP anymore

Ander22 on 2021-08-22 21:48

schemer > Stick with the older (pre-Microsoft) versions if you have them. The file-sizes on these newer ones are substancially larger...

Oh, come on—2.8 MB is "large"? Is this the '90s again? :?)

I'm a bit irritated by this, and a number of other recent programs, where the '64-bit' version downloads a zip file with 'x64' in the filename, however the executable contained within doesn't have 'x64' in the filename, but has the same name as the 32-bit version. Is the executable file within 32-bit, or 64-bit?

dany on 2012-01-23 18:09

@AdrianK_IT
64-bit. Unless the developer screwed up when uploading the latest package :P
If you're unsure, then use Process Explorer and under View -> Columns make sure Image Type is checked. It will show you the bitness of an application.
Another alternative is GNUWin's file utility at http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnuwin32/files/file/5.03/
I'm not sure about portability though (Cygwin stuff...) and am currently not in the position to test.

lautrepay on 2012-01-23 20:28

@AdrianK_IT & dany: The easiest way is analysing the file with PeStudio (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1950).
And the "64-bit" version of BulletsPassView is 64-bit.

Under Windows 7 (and probably Vista), you may need to run this program as Administrator for it to work.
'SmartSniff' (also from Nirsoft) already has a manifest that will ask for Elevated Privileges.. not sure why this one was missed?

it is version 7.0 right now, is portable and free
great viewer, fast and lite. some good lossless transformations
use it as is, support is dead.
take care, thumbnail database is not big enough, optimisation of thumbnail database will clear most thumbs. resizing thumbnails will clear all database so using Tag section is completly useless. (tags are saved on thumbnail database)
Still one of top 3 in my image viewers.
it use SageThumbs https://sourceforge.net/projects/sagethumbs/
to manage .eps files

gcb43 on 2022-04-04 12:55

I fully agree with Miklo, having used FastStone for several years, I really like it: does everything I want almost intuitively.I still use version 6.4 . Tried to use the last version 7.6 but reversed to the previous one because in the last release there is a bug in the Multi-Page File Builder to created an Animated GIF (Alt+M):. the resulting GIF file shows only the first 2 loaded images then stops.

QuickWayToFolders provides quick and easy access to a folder on your computer via a taskbar icon. The program window disappears when you click outside the window. Display modes include:

  • Desktop: Act like a mini-desktop, with small icons
  • Small Browser: very similar to Windows explorer in "details" view
  • Menu: Display folder content in a menu
  • Multiple Folders Menu: Display multiple folders content in a single menu (note that you must manually add them or nothing will appear when you click the icon)
In the "Menu" and "Multiple Folders Menu" settings, the program can act like a Program Launcher. Multiple instances of the program can be run with customizable icons and each entry is added to the taskbar.

To use the program as a root folder of a portable folder choose Options - Local path, then use a forward slash: "\". To set an image as a background place it in the application folder and set path as "image name.jpg" etc.

Category:
Runs on:WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
