Further to my previous comment, it seems that the download links are still working; my problem was that Zippyshare is now blocked in the UK for some reason. (Seems to be blocked by Zippyshare itself rather than by my ISP.) I managed to download from the given links via a VPN.

"Copy or move the contents of $INSTDIR to a folder of your choice":
I just extracted using uniextract (2. try: 7zip, same result). There is no $INSTDIR, only $PLUGINSDIR, SOUNDS and files imgburn.exe, imgburnpreview.exe, readme.txt.
I suppose this altogether is equivalent to $INSTDIR ? At least it seems to work and afterwards the ini is 18KiB and it created dir "Log Files".

smaragdus on 2015-04-15 04:09

I confirm that *fang-face* is right- the extraction of the latest version of ImgBurn (2.5.8.0) with Universal Extractor version 1.6.1 or with 7-Zip version 9.20 doesn't create any '$INSTDIR' directory.

alanc on 2016-09-25 11:58

"Includes disc testing, verification (that files are exactly the same as those on the disc)"

Re verification: I'm not sure, but I think the program only verifies that the burned content is readable. I don't see the source drive active during this process.

I always verify with WinMerge after burning:

Of course these are minor nitpicks and do not decimate the value of the application. If recovering your files are a life and death situation than this should be the last thing on your mind.

JerusalemGifts on 2014-01-18 18:57

DO NOT USE - Total waste of $40 - customer service offensive after I could not get their program to work. I kid you not!

AugustRon0 on 2014-11-04 03:00

Honestly, when you accidentally delete something important off from your memory card or hard drive, the best solution to take them all back is to copy them back from your prepare drive or card data backups. Therefore, making data backups is really important.
But, if you also unfortunately forget to save data backups on other places, data recovery software is really workable when the previous data is not overwritten by anything new.
Check this to know more detailed information of data recovery:

After first downloading MSVBVM50.DLL and putting it in the app folder I still encountered an error.

Comctl32.ocx missing or unregistered

I downloaded this and placed it in the app folder and sytem32 folder in C:\Windows\System32

No Go, so I used Regsvr32.exe to try to register the Ocx file from the command line.

Still no go any help or suggestions????
