Angry IP scanner is a fast IP scanner that can ping a range of IP addresses to check if they are alive, then optionally resolve hostnames, scan ports, etc. The program is useful for network administrators to monitor and manage their networks.

Note: Current versions of this program require Java. Until this is tested as portable, we are linking to the previous non-Java version.

System Requirements: Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: Windows registry. But given the nature of the application, I think it can be accepted as portable. An option is provided to delete registry entries upon user's request.
License: GPL v2
How to extract: Download IPscan221.EXE to a folder of your choice and launch.

now, about the "License: Freeware" you think?? think again...

"Angry IP Scanner 3.0 is currently...feel free to browse the source code {}."

so... "The connection was reset"

well... you see the "SourceForge web button", so go to SourceForge, search for "Angry IP Scanner" and here we are, 1489 results, and now check the first one "Angry IP Scanner" and, we got it!! but hey where is the "Source Code"? I really dunno?

so I did a mistake... again... oops!

okay, so why they say that this is an Open Source?

and why its on, if there seems to be no source, at first glance?

can someone answer me?? thanks, Simon.T

From the news page: Development moved to Subversion (Wed, 26 Jul 2006 21:37:28 GMT). If you are following the development of Angry IP Scanner 3.0, then you should be aware that it is no longer in the CVS, it is now moved to the Subversion repository. Maybe this might help?

Awesome program! Can scan a single IP, range of IPs, or a lists (txt file) of IPs. Usually returns MAC Address, hostname, and NetBIOS info if it's a Windows machine (such as the computer name, group name). Immensely useful!

BTW, Angry IP Scanner's website Home page and Download pointers are currently broken.

Shame, because this program is a remarkably unobstrusive and swift IP range scanner, especially the older, Windows-only v2.21 version (corrected pointers are included in my first remark above)

Admittedly, a few registries entry are created if one chooses to save some optional settings parameters, BUT the author tactfully provided a specific option to clear those registry entries upon user's request !

Pointers fixed.

Angry IP scanner v3.2.2 (released 12-03-2014) (1.61Mb)

New official download URL:

Changes in 3.2.2:
- MAC vendors updated
- Update site URLs
- Debian/Ubuntu: allow more different JREs
- Mac: Specify Java 1.6+ in plist
- Upgrade JNA to 4.0 - Windows: remove license step from the installer
- Minor bugfixes

Still much favour and use good ole (and small) legacy version 2.2.1 (112kb) ...;-)

According to this needs java to be installed. Should it be listed here if that is the case?

__philippe 2014-03-14 15:18

One more reason to use the older legacy version instead, which, afaik, does not need Java.

Craunch: just added a note to the entry.

As illustrated in the forum
AdvancedIPscanner is NOT portable.

Besides, the package contains no less than 45 distinct files, including umpteen dll's, for a bloated total of 8.8MB, versus AngryIPscanner single 108KB *.exe.

Take you pick...;-)
