Autoruns shows programs that run during system bootup or login, as well as entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility.
A 64-bit version is available (within the folder).
Alternatively, Autoruns Portable is stealth and will only show the EULA once.

Though v. 13.93 is available here, at Portable Freeware, the MS site only has v. 13.91 . Is this version again being recalled by MS?

RapidCRC Unicode is a hashing program capable of checking and verifying the integrity of files, folders, or whole drives. The program includes process priority, ability to pause/resume analysis, job queuing, easily copy hashes to the clipboard and multi-threaded checks. If using checksum files (e.g. .sfv or .md5) for future verification, options include the ability to generate for every analyzed file, directory, or a single checksum with all hash data.
Includes direct support for CRC hashing in the filename (common for anime releases) for example: "MyFile [45DEF3A0].avi") Other algorithms range from fast to secure, including SFV(CRC32), MD5, ED2K, SHA-1/256/512 and Blake2sp.
Based on the original RapidCRC but updated with extended Unicode support.

This is currently my go-to program. I tend to add it to the "send to" menu on machines I'm currently using and it works beautifully to check one or more files. Also, the ability to insert the hash directly into the file name makes so much sense. Just drag-and-drop it into the window and instantly know if there's a problem. Great solution to the multi-step check.

I think there is something wrong with the "CRC into Filename" function. This occurs with files that lack a file extension.

I have been using FreeCommander for many years and it is, simply, outstanding. To not have a real file manager is a misfortune; to be without FreeCommander is to be handicapped. Over time I have introduced many new users to FreeCommander and the results are always the same after several weeks of use - fascination that they ever managed to function with that Windows File Explorer thing. I had moved to FreeCommander when the old Xtree/XtreeGold file manager was no longer functional in Windows, and other file managers were not handling the complex file management work regularly encountered. At first, the two default panes in FreeCommander seemed odd. Though one pane can be disabled or hidden, dual panes grow quickly on the user until one realizes - wait, how can anyone function with a file manager that has just one pane?

I've been using version 4.13 for awhile. Love the program. It got even better w/ v5.01. Added Contacts, Calendar, and ToDo list to the notes. Don't need to Extract as it have an option to install portably on a thumbdrive (although no options to choose a folder).

SoundVolumeView displays general information and current volume level for all active sound components on your system, allowing instant mute/unmute. This is useful both for viewing audio management details as well as tracking down (and silencing) a given program sound from your system. Additionally, the program also allows for loading or saving custom sound configurations for a given situation or toolset. A config file contains volume level, mute/unmute state of all sound components and default sound devices.
A command-line interface is also available with extensive support, allowing you to save/load profiles, change the current volume of every sound component and mute/unmute every sound component.

@ bzl333: System Requirements: This utility works on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 2008. Both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported. |
RIOT (Radical Image Optimization Tool) presents a before-and-after image compression view that allows you to reduce file size of an image into JPG, PNG, or GIF format. Includes optional metadata removal, batch operations, compression to a target file size, transparency options, and other common editing functions (flip, rotate, zoom, pan). Notable versus similar software in the ability to gradually reduce the available colors one-by-one (7, 8, 9, 10...), not just milestones of 16, 32, 64 etc.
The program is also available as a plugin for XnView, GIMP, or Irfanview (see website).
Functional in Linux using Wine. Many of the official entries here on PortableFreeware have used RIOT for compression. Note that the installer version of this program is considered adware.

Multi Commander unfortunately isn't stealth > creates MultiCommander-key in HKCU\Software. Could be triggered by some settings. Deleting apparently doesn't affect settings/functionality, but the key reappears on every start. |
