I look no further than Syncovery for synchronisation. The feature set is hard to beat and it seems to work better than all the others I`ve tried.

logear on 2014-02-24 20:29

I just checked out Syncovery. It's not freeware.

coolayman on 2014-04-05 21:46

I love this application ... I use it for backing up all my files ... it is very quick and much quicker than manual copy-paste by windows. I always use manual mode to preview the synchronization then running it.

Back4Sure v3.7.0

Checker on 17 Jan 2015
  • 6MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 7 Jan 2015
  • Suggested by guinness

Back4Sure is a feature-rich backup solution for typical backup use. The program can make a backup to hard-disk, USB drive or network and can also be compressed using high or low compression settings to a ZIP or 7-zip file of various compression levels, as well as encrypted for security.

Other features include filters to backup or exclude specific file types, a cleanup mode to remove old archives, and creation of one or multiple zip files (separated by directory structure). Backups are saved by directory structure either inside the archive or inside the directory for easy restoring. Users can also use multiple settings profiles, or "job" files.

System Requirements: Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes
License: Freeware (accepts donations)
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch Back4Sure.exe.
What's new? Added:
  • Back4Sure now also copies the alternate data streams of folders.
  • The progress bar has a percent display now.
  • The icon in the task bar now shows the backup progress in Windows 7 and higher.
  • Update of the OpenSSL libraries to version 1.0.1j.

Technomancer: if you mean the entry is unclear, please let us know in forums. If you mean the program itself (and for the RAR distro issue) you might want to contact the developer directly.

what you should know:
Cleanup is optional - it is very close related to an incremental backup.
Using this you have to select the same Target Directory as before to backup only changed files and to delete files on the backup that have been deleted on the original file system as well (the latter one is the actual Cleanup).

Hope it helps ;)

It's a crying shame that you can only backup folders with this tool, and not individual files within those folders (yes, I know you can set filters, but unless you know in advance what files you want from each folder, this is not practical to use).

Bvckup 2 v68 (beta) New

webfork on 13 Mar 2015
  • 592KB (uncompressed)
  • Suggested by Midas

Bvckup 2 is a backup/synchronization tool that uses "delta" copy methods, meaning it only transfers changes to a file or files rather than recopying the entire set. This is frequently faster, saves bandwidth for network backups, and can help flash media to live longer by reducing the overall number of disk writes. The program can do real-time, periodic or manual backups, and also works as an advanced data transfer program that can reliably resume partial transfers to local or network storage.

Bvckup 2 is functional in 64-bits Windows: the installation process will auto-detect and install either the 32-bits or 64-bits version (but not both!); the 64-bits version won't work on 32-bits systems, while the 32-bits will be slower and without shadow copy on 64-bits systems.

Note: this freeware is an unsupported beta, meaning that the author provides a commercial product that is considered stable and elegible for customer support. Additionally, a previous freeware version with a lesser feature set is available from

System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8
Writes settings to: Application folder
License: Freeware (unsupported beta)
How to extract:
  1. Download setup program and install
  2. Copy contents of C:\Program Files\Bvckup 2 to a folder of your choice
  3. Create an empty text file in this folder with the following content:

    SET conf-dir="%~dp0Config"
    START "" bvckup2.exe -c %conf-dir%

  4. Rename the text file bvckup2-portable.bat
  5. Uninstall program
  6. Launch bvckup2-portable.bat

Optionally, delete uninstall.exe and uninstall.dat.

Be forewarned that in time the "Config" folder is liable to grow to thousands of files, with substantial storage use.

Actually it works great. I have tested it with Ditto. Only two programms
GoodSync2Go (paid) and Bvckup 2 (free) could make a backup without errors.

My guess: now you have both versions, old and new. Screenshot, please!

Allen on 2014-12-11 00:27

All kinds of error messages now. Have many instances running in task manager. Even after closing program, ending all in task manager and rebooting I still get error messages after re-launch. I deleted and tried the self update. I deleted and dragged and dropped. still no go! The portable version on USB. I will try another software. I had been using version 110 for a long time. Should have never tried the update.

smaragdus on 2014-12-18 04:52

Is there a way to prevent the update check?
