@Cornflower: It is true that the first duckduck.go links point to pages that actually do not host the "desired" version. But further down in the list of pages, I could download the file from https://en.taiwebs.com/windows/download-foxit-reader-portable-3493.html

I noticed that the page mentions a "password" which was not needed for accessing or running the app.

I checked on virustotal FoxitReaderPortable_2023.2.0.21408.paf.exe (what you download) and FoxitReaderPortable.exe (after uniextracting the paf file), and both came up clean.
But I did not check the "multitude" of DLLs ...

I could launch the app, and did not go further, since I have no use for this app.

I added 2023.2 as a legacy download for you: https://portableapps.com/apps/office/foxit_reader_portable#download_details

@JohnTHaller : Thank you for posting this earlier version. I deleted the one I got from my "unknown potentially unreliable web page".
Relief !!!!

Windows System Control Center (WSCC) allows you to install, update, execute and organize the utilities from various system utility suites. The program either works as an interface or as downloader. Works with Windows Sysinternals and NirSoft Utilities suites, but also highlights Windows' own utilities.

Note: The setup packages are downloaded from the author's website.

AutoHotkey v2.0.15 Updated

Ennovy on 16 May 2024
  • 7MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 16 May 2024
  • Suggested by Jon Pajela

AutoHotkey is a powerful automation and scripting tool with an option to export to a self-contained executable. Possible uses include assigning the hotkey "Ctrl-Alt-F" to launch Firefox, making abbreviations expand to their full definition as you type them, or saving time by setting the computer to auto-click a confirmation screen.

The program can create entire applications and has been used to create many hosted here on PortableFreeware including 7plus, WallPaper Randomizer, Gridy and many more.

Note: Though it's bit outdated (from 2021), Pulover's Macro Creator can be used as a macro recorder and includes an "Export to AHK" function.

Category:
Runs on:WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10 / Win11
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? No. By default, it places an ahk script file in user documents. However, if you place a ahk file with the same name alongside the executable (eg. autohotkey.exe => autohotkey.ahk), it becomes stealth.
Unicode support: Yes
License: GNU GPLv2
How to extract:
  1. Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice.
  2. Launch AutoHotkeyU32.exe or AutoHotkeyU64.exe (for 64-bit OS).

PortableApps.com AppCompactor v3.7.4 Updated

Ennovy on 15 May 2024
  • 1MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 15 May 2024
  • Suggested by Checker

PortableApps.com AppCompactor allows you to compress whole directories including applications, file libraries and zip files. The program is a powerful compression tool that unites 7-Zip and UPX inside a user-friendly wizard. For applications, this saves disk space and increases performance when running from a slow media (like flash drives). For archives, this will recompress DLL, EXE, ZIP, JAR, IRC, PYD and BIN files to their maximum compression settings, as well as an option to decompress an app's binary files that were previously compressed with UPX.

All files are tested using UPX's test feature after compressing. Files smaller than 4K are automatically skipped as compressing will not save space on the drive. The standard Microsoft Visual C runtimes are skipped to prevent antivirus false-positives. Advanced configuration can be done with apps in PortableApps.com Format.

Note: As UPX will alter the EXEs and DLLs (reversible using the Decompress option in the AppCompactor) and some apps may have issues with Zip or Jar files compressed further, users should backup software and test it after processing.

tommyD: Disadvantages are that it breaks some programs, and it may be slightly more CPU-intensive to decompress libraries and executables on the fly.

I noticed some suspicious behaviour of my system after i downloaded and run this programm. a popup-window apeared showing a countdown of 1 min and told me that my system will reboot.
After the reboot of Windows, the Data Execution Prevention deactivated a programm. i hope this is not a virus.

ingkiller1 on 2008-06-19 01:24

Eron, If you did get a virus it was not related to RockXP because I have scanned it with ClamWinPortable and AVG and come up with nothing. Not to mention I used this program a long time ago and never had any problems. Also, it does not call home so don't worry.

CAUTION: Close all other programs when running this one. Has caused system crashes for me.
