Has some interesting features but so far I find I prefer PhotoDemon, which seems to have a few more filters and controls.

A simple operation of copy / paste a piece of an image is a nightmare.
No shell options for selection.

circular on 2020-10-07 15:24

@PapaiMark I am a bit shocked that you say it would be nightmare to copy / paste a piece of an image. I invite you to add an issue on the GitHub page of LazPaint to explain the problem you are encountering. You can also post suggestions of improvement there.

Qupzilla is getting a little memory hungry. I have removed this from my favorites list.

If you want a barebones browser that uses little memory, I would recommend the latest version of K-Meleon.

smaragdus on 2017-02-04 16:56

@billon
At first look QupZilla version 2.1.0 seems to have improved significantly compared to version 2.0.2, but it uses far more resources compared to version 1.8.9. I did just a brief testing.

freakazoid on 2017-02-11 22:46

I can confirm what smaragdus said about v2.1.0.

Memory usage hovers around 120-140 MB RAM, but that is to be expected when the core engine is now updated to use QtWebEngine, which is powered by Chromium. To compare, I had an older version of Qupzilla v1.8.6 lying around and that used 210 MB RAM.

It's a good alternative to the existing Chromium-powered browsers, but if you're using a Chromium backend, you might as well use Chromium so you can gain access to the wealth of available extensions out there rather than some homebrewed versions that come with QupZilla.

Can't use SQL files directly, have to connect to a server. useless.

scottG on 2011-02-16 13:11

Just a clarification, this doesn't work "directly" with Oracle, MySQL or other DB, it requires an ODBC connection set up. If it worked "directly" with those it would connect to Oracle via TNSNames on (default) port tcp/1521 and for MySQL tcp/3306. It does neither.

2018: Rubbish. No workie with Informix database.
Description reads very well as in, it can sing, dance, and bake a cake. In fact it sits in the corner and sulks.

Because of the different strategies of most defrag apps you can do more false then right:
if you're using Vista/7/8 use the build-in defragmenter on a regular basis,
if you use XP my favourite is DiskDefrag on a regular basis,
if you defragment your hard disk, please use only one app for it.

I'm not a 'fanboy' of Auslogics DiskDefrag or any of their other products.

avi-aryan on 2013-09-24 11:05

Ultra Defrag looks good and works fast . I downloaded it just after reading a review at http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-disk-de-fragmenter.htm . Just can't wait to see how it works when compared to all other defragmenters I have tried in the past.

PS - Can anyone help me how to enable Boot Time Defragmentation provided I use the portable version.

webfork on 2015-06-28 23:20

Avi-aryan: on the Boot Time Defrag, it's unfortunately still only available for the installed version.

Your X-CamStudio version 2.7.2 [rev5] page lists
System Requirements as WinNT / Win2K / WinXP
but I could not find the System Requirements at the
winpenpack.com X-CamStudio 2.7.2 [rev5] page.
CamStudio Portable 2.7.2 at The Portable Freeware Collection page
lists System Requirements as Windows XP/Vista/7/8
while the actual CamStudio home page lists
CamStudio version 2.7.2 (Build r326)as Compatible with
Windows XP, Vista and 7 ( although their Help page shows
CamStudio version 2.0 System Requirements were
Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000, XP)
Are these all just slightltly different versions,
or do the system requirements need to be updated on your page?

GAG: The only one I've tested is XP and Win7 so that's all I can directly speak to. I can't find anything on the Camstudio home page about support levels and even Softpedia disagrees.
