Softpedia has portable UnityPDF v1.0.10.0: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Office/PDF/Portable-UnityPDF.shtml (choose Softpedia mirror download, the external link points back to the expired domain).

Midas: Joby got the softpedia edit already but I added the archive.org homepage.

I had to merge some PDF files just now and the usual app I use, PDFTK Builder, popped up an error for the first time since I've used it.

Needed to find another app and UnityPDF worked just fine.

Disregard that, I just got it working. The instructions were a little confusing.

Everytime I use it, this program surprises me away with a LOT of data about files. If ever you want to try and understand the history, author, or other details about a given file, ExifTool is a great place to start.

I'd like Java and .Net categories...

A few operational changes in v1.10.0 I've noticed:

Loads more quickly (my perception)
It does Booklet correctly.
Split pages works easier.
New feature: Merge Pages (onto the same sheet)!

libiconv2.dll does not seem to in setup. Works without it.

Works in Windows 10, but noticed recently that it creates a folder in the temp location
%TEMP%\pdftkb

I haven't found any files created in that location, observing it during a few tests; it is just an empty folder., so PDFTK Builder is not completely stealth in Windows 10 (still my favourite PDF utility since 2003)

Tried to rotate pages in a scanned magazine article, resulted in an error message.

That's weird that it doesn't work. Anyway, PDF X-Change (which I recommend) and X-PDFsam will both handle that.

@Emka - The first item under OPTIONS look like you can set the utility to delete the jpgs when you exit the program. I have never been very sure the program actually does what it says, so I simply use the second item in OPTIONS to check and delete as necessary. Periodically I use the jpg instead the pdf so I actually find this useful. Bottom line is that I wish the author would clean all this up a bit more, but I find the utility so useful (use it every day almost) that I am prepared to work around the idiosyncrasies.

@MIKLO & _philippe: It now seems possible to select a folder for temporary files, so you can change the default location in AppData to the app's folder for example.

I've done this, but I still get the "Register Now" nag. Pressing clears the nag, but it's awfully irritating. Is there a way of disabling it?

OK managed to get a register code; use it once and hey presto away you go. BUT the code is written o a local gsview.ini which also incorporates named drive letters. Move your USB stick to another host machine where it will very likely be named differently and gsview.ini is suddenly broken -- you have to supply the reg code again. Very VERY annoying; not true portable freeware, at all ...

Setup is a bit more tricky then running a self-extracting executable, and dumping Ghostscript in the same folder. Here's what I had to do:
1. Download the GSView self-extracting exe and the associated Ghostscript exe
2. Open the GSView self-extracting exe with 7-zip or other archive software and extract everything except the files indicated in 'How to Extract'. (RUNNING the exe will install a non-portable version!!)
3. Create a 'gs9.04' subfolder in the folder that GSviewPortable is in. (it seems the name is usually 'gs' followed by the version #).
4. Open the Ghostscript exe with an archive utility, go to $_OUTDIR, and extract all the files from that folder into the subfolder just created (in this case, gs9.04)
5. Now you can run GSviewPortable

*Note: I can verify what Fergus says - Registration screen pops up on run. Not a huge deal for me
