PDF-XChange Editor is a fast, feature-rich PDF viewer and editor with a tabbed interface. The program includes edition of text-based PDFs, OCR of images to fully text-searchable, full document spellchecking, rotate/crop, comments/annotations, QR codes and more. You can apply custom stamps from any image/PDF file/Windows clipboard, mark-up pages with text and objects and add/edit hyperlinks.
The program supports import and export to text or image (BMP/JPEG/TIFF/PNG etc.).
Note: The free PDF-XChange Editor lacks some features present in the registered version (payware). Some "Pro" features can be used, but will add a watermark upon saving.

The download button doesn’t seem to work atm. It takes me back to this page.
But you can get the tool from the website. Click on the DOWNLOAD arrow and select the portable version.
As a simple test, I tried what I consider the most useful function of filling in a form. But on trying to add text, I got the warning that it’s a paid feature and subsequently the watermark on the saved document. Consequently, I consider the free version next to useless.
There are free online PDF editors that will do such tasks without watermarks.
v9.3.361.0
I'm happy to notice the freeware version of PDF-XChange Editor still exists, according to https://www.tracker-software.com/product/downloads
"More than 70% of the features in PDF-XChange Editor do not require a license to use."
v9.3.361.0
It is shareware.
v9.3.361.0
@juverux: It's one additional level of redirection. If you click on the link, it redirects you to the actual download link.
v9.0.353.0
The download link points to the app TPFC page.
v9.0.353.0
I currently need to extract all the images from a multi-page pdf file with the requirement that the original quality of the images be retained.
The description of Pdf-Xchange Editor is promising, so I tried it on a 300 page pdf file.
After two attempts, I got the same result: Pdf-Xchange Editor closes itself at about 25% of the progress bar. I could not find any traces (I mean image files) of the processed images in the specified folder.
v9.0.352.0
@AndTheWolf: confirmed, thanks for that. Updating entry.
v8.0.332.0
The OCR language files for English, Spanish, French, German, Czech, and Finnish now are already in the "Tesseract" folder of the portable zip package, and there is no longer an OCRBaseLangPack.zip download on the OCR language page. The are other languages there, but six mentioned here are already in the base product.
v8.0.332.0
I had a document with both text and pasted images. While Acrobat Pro kept complaining there was rendered text and wouldn't OCR the available images, PDFXChange got right to it.
v6.0.322.7
To fill out forms, simply use the typewriter tool in the freeware portable version.
