Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio is a powerful and flexible screen recording and screencasting tool. The program includes real-time recording, broadcasting, and audio mixing and layouts. The "scene" system allows building custom input settings with numerous audio and video sources (multiple microphones, webcam, applications, screens etc.). Available filters allow for automatic, live filtering including crop, color correction, sharpen, chroma key, audio gain and more.

Cross-platform with versions available for Mac and Linux. Alternatively, PortableApps' OBS Portable is also available.

XMedia Recode is an audio/video converter for most popular formats and includes handy profiles for popular mobile/tablet devices such as iPod, iPhone, Samsung, SonyEricsson, Zune, PSP, Blackberry, LG etc. These profiles include file format, screen size and other details chosen specifically for a given player.

HandBrake is a video encoder that supports a variety of formats, device profiles and filters. The program includes tools for both basic and advanced users, with multi-threaded compression, subtitles, chapters, and quality settings. The program can also process most file types, including DVD/BluRay sources without copy protection, and supports live static and video preview.

Only available for 64-bit machines. Cross-platform with clients available for Mac and Linux.

Free Batch Music Splitter is a tool to split audio files into several parts or parts with a specified length. The program can do several splitting jobs at once. It will also add folders and subfolders, maintaining output folder structure.

Funcitonal with MP3, AAC, WAV, WAVPACK, OGG, OPUS, FLAC, ALAC, M4B and M4A files.

The Levelator is an easy-to-use audio optimization tool that fixes volume inconsistencies for WAV or AIFF files. Developed specifically for podcast voice and music recordings, it ensures a consistent volume level using both gain optimization and RMS normalization.

Works via drag-and-drop and supports batch operations (dragging multiple files). Clients available for Linux and OSX.

RolloSONIC is a modular sound-synthesis environment with mouse-guided tweaking and real-time module interconnection. Automated control channel duplexing, a variable-bandwidth control pipe, and multi-device euphony support various possibilities. Like the great module racks historically used in making sound effects for science-fiction movies, RolloSONIC lets you add and connect audio-processing modules together, where the sound is playing the entire time so that changes to the interconnections and changes to the sliders are heard immediately -- just like with the real thing.

The program takes the idea to the next level by letting you incorporate your mouse movement into the control channels. Optionally, you can also incorporate your USB or MIDI (musical) keyboard controller and its knobs and sliders into the mix of control data.
