Unlike other space usage programs that focus on just tracking down space hogs, Xinorbis helps deliver a better overall understanding of your machine's data. Thanks Guido76. It's still labelled as 8.0.5 but it's a new version and working here too

Emka on 2017-03-04 13:44

It doesn't display some German special characters correctly (e.g. ß), and more importantly, it shows a "buy the pro version" nagscreen upon exit and opens the product homepage in the system's standard browser.

Guido76 on 2017-03-04 14:30

Emka, you're right. Some problems with the French language too. And a very annoying nag-screen, and automatic launch of the browser. Too bad!
I will try to see this with the author, but I suppose that is part of his strategy to force the sale of the Pro version, so there is only little chance to make him change his mind!

NTFSLinksView shows you a list of all symbolic links and junctions in the specified folder, and their target paths. Microsoft Windows uses symbolic links and junction points of NTFS file system in order to make changes in the folders structure of Windows and keep the compatibility of applications written for older versions (pre-Vista). The program is useful for both diagnosis around linking issues and developers seeking to use symbolic links in their tools.

I Just hope this excellent editor won't go from "complete" to "bloated" and from lots of MB to fews of GB in size :)

joby_toss on 2015-11-15 07:56

I used UPX to bring the size down to about 70MB, but I haven't fully tested the functionality afterwards...

Just for completion: not stealth, leaves a folder "CEF" in AppData/Local/ behind - has something to do with dictionaries (disabling the auto correction does not help)

Advanced Renamer is stealth but the exiftool.exe within is not, it leaves behind a 19MB folder: AppData\Local\Temp\par-username\cache-exiftool-10.04.

Even if terminated properly, the folder stays.

@ joby_toss thanks for a great link that makes clear many useful things about portable installs :) Advanced Renamer is still my fav app for name changing one or many files,so user friendly.

CloneSpy v3.34 Updated

billon on 27 Mar 2017
  • 6MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 26 Mar 2017
  • Suggested by Fluffy

CloneSpy can help you free up hard drive space by detecting and removing duplicate files with exactly the same contents regardless of their name, date, time, or location. Also, CloneSpy is able to find files that are not exactly identical, but have the same file name. This can be an issue for example if you have different versions of a file and you want to find and remove the older versions. CloneSpy is able to find zero-byte files.

Note: The installer now allows you to choose between a 32 or 64-bit version of CloneSpy.

  • A new option remembers size and position of the Result presentation windows (see Priority page of the Options window).
  • File properties can now be viewed via the context menu of the Result presentation windows.
  • The View CSC-file window now has a search function.
Fixed:
  • When scanning against CSC-files, the Single duplicates window now shows all equal files found (regression since v3.2).
  • The pattern matcher now recognizes matching string even if the pattern ends with an asterisk.

A lot of people here trying to delete multiples of the same image - I just wanted to give a shout out to Dup Detector, which is a great piece of software that does exactly that.

Dup Detector doesn't just do file-size/checksum analysis, it actually analyzes the images to find similarities. E.g. one could be black & white and the other can be color, or one can be watermarked, or one could be taken 2 seconds later because someone blinked & it'll find both and display them to you and ask which one you want to delete or if you want to keep both. You can choose how strict it is in its matching algorithm - 100% mach, 95% match etc.

You can even have it set up to automatically select which one to delete based on rules - e.g. the smaller one. Then you just approve the selection by hitting the space bar, or you can just let it do its thing automatically, or you can go full-manual mode and click the image you want to delete. Super fast way to delete duplicates and easy to use. I've used it professionally to manage large image catalogs that had a lot of duplicates of different sizes.

Unfortunately, it's not portable.

The latest version I have is 3.3.02 from July 8, 2011. You can get an earlier version from rareware.
