I love it. It makes ma Yahoo mail account usable. Only 1 problem: if you delete the email in your email program the file will be downloaded agsain until it is deleted on yahoo or whatever web mail you use.

I had to come back for an update. It took a few hours but I got FreePops working. Not sure how or why exactly, but the concept is really quite simple. I've used this same type of proxy for NNTP posting, so I had a head start.

Now I can download Yahoo and three Hotmail accounts into Outlook Express. I could also do it for Thunderbird, and I think I will.

But I still maintain their documentation IS bad.

So far I've succeeded in downloading my OE Inbox into my OE Inbox. I can't even begin to comprehend how it did that. I've gone through the "instructions" 10 times. The documentation is a bad joke. I'm sure this stuff is good, but how to get it working.

I've figured out how to use a proxy server to access anonymous remailers but so far this stuff has me stumped.

'his "philosophy" of freeware' is not this developer's philosophy at all. It is the Free Software Foundation's GNU free software philosophy. This developer simply linked to the GNU page.

As for 'no instruction on the use of the program' that is not true. I agree with drutt, it's there if you just take a look at it. There is a 68 page PDF file full of detailed information (including some pictures, since that is what some people understand), or an HTML version of the same, (and even an Italian version if you feel like an added challenge) as well as a tutorial for dummies. This is some quite comprehensive documentation.

The other way to look at it, is if you're smart enough you don't need the docs, but they are still there if you do want them. If you can't find them ... maybe you're not smart enough to be allowed to use the software. :-)
Like the urban legend around the help desk employee who recommended the customer pack their computer back in the box and return it to the store.

Click on 'Docs' on the left, the help documentation is quite extensive...

It's only 'crap' when you can do better ;)

Why don't developers of programs write better directions of use of their programs??? Not everyone knows what they mean. This developer has a web page full of info, even his "philosophy" of freeware. Yet, no instruction on the use of this program. Putting out such programs without instructions is pretty lame. I am deleting this crap.
