Yes! Glad to see my program submission made it to the web site. I didn't write this program but it's one that I use very often. This is one of my favorite network utilities.

I like YOD'm but deskspace is cool, in that... they fix things YOD'm was lacking (6 sides making a complete cube, faster rotation, a background BEHIND the cube, etc) But yod'm is good for free ... Unless you need more then 4 desktops :-P

Xonox on 2011-06-01 16:52

Hi, in my work, I run a lot of batch actions in Photoshop to process images for web. While the batch process ran, I wasn't able to do nothing with my computer because Photoshop kept jumping with images being resized.

Well not anymore, thanks to Yod'm 3D, I was able to switch desktops and leave Photshop doing its business while I did something else.

I hope this tip is helpful to someone who uses this kind of batch processing.

Cheers!

This is very cool looking but the effects get pretty old fast and it's no longer free. Those who prefer efficiency should checkout other desktop managers listed on this site.

@Jimmy Neutron
Uniextracting the installer works fine. Otherwise, just run the installer, agree the license, choose portable mode and be sure to uncheck all the junk (toolbars etc.) it wants you to install. I will update the entry later.

webfork on 2010-11-30 17:24

Installation instructions updated. Note that I didn't test the "install as portable" option, which might work fine.

dmg on 2011-04-02 23:43

I just tried one and it no longer appears to be stealth. The individual clocks used to store settings in the application folder as hidden files, but that no longer appears to be the case.

Taksi v0.7.7.2

webfork on 25 Jun 2017
  • 320KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 3 Jun 2013
  • Suggested by Fluffy

Taksi is a video/screen capture tool for 3D applications. It can capture from almost any DirectX, OpenGL or GDI window and capture video of the contents. Although videos can be compressed, this is not recommended as it further slows down an already taxing process

Note: This program does not appear to be in development any longer so some features are not implemented (such as recording audio).

Category:
Runs on:Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: Application folder
License: BSD
How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and extract to a folder of your choice using the "MSI Administrative Installation" method
  2. Delete the .MSI file (name varies depending on version eg. taksi-0.7.6.msi) and TaksiLogo.jpg
  3. Launch Taksi.exe
Recommendations: Turn video compression off for the best performance. Click "Config" and then, in the "Format" tab, select the "Video Codecs" button. Choose "Full Frames (Uncompressed)" from the drop-down dialog, and then "OK". The program will warn you that this uses up a very large amount of disk space: click "OK" and then "Save").

hiya.. actually this is the first time that i hear of such an error, so maybe it's your (old?) drivers fault.
(as it works perfectly on a whole bunch of different gfx-cards (intel, nvidia, ati) and also different generations (radeon1/2/3, geforce2/3/4/fx/6, quadro4/fx, ... ...))

filbert on 2006-07-22 03:18

Did nasty things with my Matrox dual head G450 with the latest drivers installed! - error messages:
*Couldn't Init multiTextures*
*Couldn't Init LockArrays*
*Couldn't Init Texture_env_combine*
*Couldn't Init Texture_env_add*
- after all that the intro screen launched but I ahd to cntrl+alt+del to get out as nothing worked and I couldn't select any options (like options, start game, exit etc)
not pretty :/
