An excellent basic HTML editor for new and intermediate Web page authors. Although the program has a few bugs here and there, it is easily one of the best free (non-text only) Web page editors available. Its cross-platform nature (windows, linux, mac) means you'll be able to edit your files no matter where you are.

Because NVU was never updated after its initial creation, a successor with some bug fixes and additional features is the also portable KompoZer: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1209

his is a great program. While set up to easly open and edit html files, I found I can also open and edit asp pages as well. I really like how it color codes the html on the source view page

Is this project still active? There hasn`t been any updates for awhile. Nothing for the last 2 PHP7 branches. Last update was January.

The last link is a 404 because this site removes the trailing slash. Add the trailing slash to the url.

It's me again, just wanted to tell you about the newest version released today, which features a program launcher like Launchy/Exekutor with many integrated plugins, among other things.

As an additional information, 7plus supports running in portable mode by running it with "-portable" command line. Admin permissions are requested on startup by default, but 7plus will also run without them and you can disable the elevation dialog in the settings, at the cost of some missing features.

First, thanks Chris for such a complete piece of software. It makes a lot of thigs easier to many of us. For feedback I keep getting the "No file access to settings files in 7Plus directory. 7Plus will not be able to store settings." error when running from command line with -portable argument on version 2.5.0. (both x86 and x64). This issue appeared fixed on hithub, but seems to remain. Thanks for your time.

Alternatively, an outdated X-muCommander is also available.

Category:
Runs on:WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Dependencies: jPortable
Stealth: ? No. Saves some temporary information to %TEMP%
License: GNU GPLv3
How to extract:
  1. Download the ZIP or even TGZ package (since the latter lacks an EXE file which isn't relevant for portable use since it requires to have Java installed).
  2. Extract to a folder of your choice (if it's the TGZ file, the actual extraction is from its internal TAR file).
  3. Prepare the following BAT (e.g. muCommander.bat) file (which is long since it both auto detects the [version] in mucommander-[version].jar and makes sure to take the newest one if you accidentally kept previous versions):
    @echo off
    setlocal enabledelayedexpansion
    set "JAR_FILE="
    set "LAST_FILE="
    for %%f in ("%~dp0mucommander-*.jar") do (
    if "!LAST_FILE!" lss "%%~nxf" (
    set "LAST_FILE=%%~nxf"
    )
    )
    if not defined LAST_FILE (
    echo mucommander-*.jar not found.
    exit /b
    )
    set "JAR_FILE=!LAST_FILE!"
    :startApp
    start "" "%~dp0\..\CommonFiles\Java\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%~dp0!JAR_FILE!" -p "%~dp0.mucommander"
    endlocal
  4. Launch the BAT file (which relies on the Dependencies).

This program still supports SMB 1.0, which is no longer supported by Windows 10. Very useful if you have older devices and don't want to make your Windows 10 insecure by re-enabling this protocol.
