Transcendence is a "Space Trader" type game with an action-based "Asteroids" interface. The objective of the game is to destroy enemy ships and stations, loot their wrecks, and improve your ship so that you can take on more powerful opponents.

TAGAP (The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins) is a penguin-laden sidescrolling shooter in the same vein as the classic Abuse. Use a variety of weapons to blast hordes of baddies and clear a path to your nemesis, Pedro the penguin. Take different drugs to boost your health, agility and even become invulnerable, and overdose on them for even more... interesting effects. You can also unlock various awards by completing tasks within the game.

Dave Gnukem is a side-scrolling platformer inspired by the classic side-scrolling Duke Nukem. While most of the gameplay is intact, all of the graphics and sounds are new.

Alternatively, a PortableApps version is also available.

Warning Forever is a top-down view space shooter with vertical scrolling. There are only you and the boss ship. The more you beat the boss ship, the stronger the next boss becomes. Try to beat as many boss ships as possible before time runs out!

Neverball is part puzzle, part action game. Tilt the floor to roll a ball through an obstacle course before time runs out. Also included is Neverputt, a hot-seat multiplayer miniature golf game using the physics and graphics of Neverball. Finally, a level editor is included.

The Open Racing Car Simulator (TORCS) is a car racing simulation system featuring more than 50 cars, 20 tracks, and 50 opponents to race against. You can steer with a joystick or steering wheel if the device is supported by your platform. The gameplay allows different types of races from the simple practice session up to the championship.

Vectoroids is a clone of the classic arcade game "Asteroids" by Atari. Your objective is to maneuver a space ship within a field of asteroids, and shoot them into smaller and smaller pieces, eventually destroying them completely.

Bombermaaan is a classic game allowing up to 5 players can play on the same computer with various levels of difficulty. Additional level packs (151 levels) are available.

GeneRally is a isometric 2D racing game for one to six players. You race on various tracks in time trial mode or against human/computer opponents in championship mode. If any of your are familiar with the 16-bit oldies like "Super Off Road Racer "or "SuperCars", then you will have an idea of what this game is about. It has some nice customization features and lots of options to tinker with, including building your own tracks.

Note: GeneRally requires DirectX V8 and above to work correctly.

Mega Mario is a Super Mario Bros clone. It features everything in the original game, but now comes with better graphics, higher resolution, smoother movement and new levels.

Alien Arena is a colorful, old-school first-person shooter with a cartoonish science-fiction theme. Featuring plenty of levels, 9 different game types, lots of mutators, and built in AI.

Open Sonic is an open-source game based closely on the "Sonic the Hedgehog" universe. It introduces a different style of gameplay called cooperative play, in which it's possible to control 3 characters simultaneously.

Arcade Classic Arcade Pack is a flash based set of nine classic video games: Asteroids, PacMan, Frogger, Hexxagon, Pong, Snake, Space Invaders, Tetris, and Tic Tac Toe.

Nexuiz is a futuristic first person shooter game. It can be configured to run in either single or multi-player mode.

Typhoon 2001 is a remake of the classic Atari Jaguar game, Tempest 2000, which is in itself a remake of the classic game Tempest. This remake, however, is loaded with plenty of graphic bells and whistles as well as a great soundtrack.

BaboViolent 2 is a networked top-down shooter where you control a "Babo", a red or blue orb that rolls around the screen with one of six weapons attached to it. The objective is to shoot at anything that moves while attempting to stay alive. There are a number of game modes available, ranging from every-man-for-himself to team-based collaboration. Game play is fast-paced, visual and engaging.

Bonesaw is an indepedent 2d side-scrolling game that mixes elements from puzzle, beat-em-up, and platforming genres. The player takes on the role of a lone Golden Knight who must save the rest of the team from an evil Referee who has taken them hostage in his interdimensional penalty box... in space. With over 30 levels, a ton of collectables, and some side things to do, this game will keep you going for quite a while.

Seizure Dome is an arena shooter with plenty of motion blurring, flashing colors and hefty pixels. Your goal is to destroy everything that comes at you without being pushed to the sides of the screen or otherwise disposed of. Addictive action combined with stomach-churning visual effects and a song that you'll never get out of your head is what this game is all about.

Contains some mild nudity, although 8-bit and not graphic by any stretch of the imagination.

Note: Please exercise your personal discretion as to whether your health permits playing this game; the name is not to be taken lightly at all. If you suffer from headaches, nausea or photosensitive seizures while playing any other game you will likely want to avoid this one.

MinishoterRS Delta is an amazing Japanese shmup that does everything right: lots of levels (including hidden ones), multiple selectable ships (including unlockable ones), great retro music and sound effects, optional boss battle mode for practice and plenty of other hidden extras. The game is played in very low resolution, though this can be magnified with the Q, W and E keys, and controlled with direction buttons along with A and Z. Though the website and program are Japanese in origin, most of the in-game text is in English.

Garden Gnome Carnage is a game that combines a few of life's most interesting pleasures: explosions, bungee and, well, more explosions! In Garden Gnome Carnage you control a building on wheels with a garden gnome attached to the chimney by a bungee cord. Your goal is to stop elves from reaching the chimney by knocking them off with the gnome, shaking them off, calling in airstrikes or having your gnome grab explosive bricks from your building and dropping them on your foes.

World of Padman is a zany cartoon first-person shooter that features creative weapons, creative game modes and a very unique style. From the gorgeous environments to the cute characters and plastic weapons, this game has a very professional feel with just the right amount of slapstick gameplay. Definitely not a game to be missed!

Digital Paint: Paintball 2 is a fast paced game with numerous maps and gameplay modes. Game modes include Elimination, CTF, 1-Flag CTF, Siege, Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and Pong.

Originally a Quake2 mod, Paintball2 became a standalone game when the program was open-souced including enhancements like reflective water and skeletal animation.

RAY-HOUND is a twist on the shooter genre in which you "steal" shots fired at you and use them to attack your enemies. Everything is controlled by the mouse and is easy to learn, but hard to master. Includes strong visuals, but limited sound.

Super Mario War is a tribute to the old "versus" Mario games with a wealth of features and game modes. The goal is to primarily hop on your opponents, though powerups such as Fire Flowers, Hammers, Invincibility and more are available to help you defeat your foes. AI "bots" are also available and are usually quite a challenge, though their performance can vary from map to map. Super Mario War also supports extra maps and skins.

Titanion is, in the author's words, a "strike down super high-velocity swooping insects" game. In short, it's yet another abstract Kenta Cho shooter that hits a home run with just about any gamer by putting a few fun twists on tried-and-true gameplay. As with all his other games, the graphics, sound, and control are all just right, making this yet another worthy addition to any gamer's arsenal.

Wire Hang Redux is a simple yet very addictive game where you use your grappling hook to vault your character up and avoid falling below the screen. Great time-waster.

Gusanos is a fully moddable Liero clone designed to run on modern operating systems. Liero is a classic game that bridges the gap between Worms and Quake, making a fast and furious deathmatch fragfest in 2D. Playable online, one-on-one or against bots, the program includes with plenty of options and maps.

Warning: This game contains excessive low-detail blood and gore.

T2002 is a remake of the classic Amiga game Turrican. Note that there is a smaller version for Win2K/XP, and another larger version for Win98 and up.

Atomic Butcher is a side-scrolling action game in the spirit of Abuse, but much more violent and graphic. Battle across the radiation-warped wasteland of Earth in search for meat to feed your shelter, using the mouse to aim and the keyboard to move.

Warning: NOT for the easily offended, as it contains plenty of blood, gore and urine. There is also a package offered that does not contain the music files, which cuts the size in half (roughly 30 megabytes).

Duck Doom Deluxe is the classic Nintendo game Duck Hunt with a DooM twist. Blast ducks out of the sky with DooM weaponry, including the rocket launcher and BFG. Allows you to play with either one or two ducks on two difficulty levels.

Tsunami 2010 is an "updated" version of the arcade classic, Tsunami. It features gorgeous 3D effects, special attacks, built-in chiptunes or user-defined background music, 100 different stages, and 14 different enemies. Thanks to procedural generation of the visuals and music, Tsunami 2010 is only around 100 KB.

Endless Fire is an abstract vector shoot-em-up. There are an infinite number of enemies that evolve to become more aggressive over time. The spread shot increases your multiplier while the stream shot increases your score.

Pekka Kana 2 is an oldschool 2D platformer where you control a rooster called Pekka. Your mission in Pekka Kana 2 is to save Pekka's chicken friends from an evil crow. There is also a level editor to create your own stages.

Attack of the Mutant Camels - the title quite literally says it all. A sidescrolling shooter where you capture cute animals and blast down the "meanies." Great graphics, sound, and gameplay.

Wok is a simple and addictive game in which you toss paper to the right side of the screen with the mouse. Higher scores are achieved by collecting many balls in the wok and throwing them all at once. If any paper falls to the bottom of the screen, the game is over.

Mu-cade is a very unique shooter that is reminiscent of Centipede and the old classic Nibbles, with a healthy dose of smooth physics and King of the Hill gameplay. Keep from falling off the edges by pushing enemies off the playfield, either with bullets or your ever-growing tail. The physics engine allows you to use this tail in a variety of ways, and you can sacrifice your tail to wipe out enemy bullets and gain a little boost in shot power. However, keeping a long tail will give you large multipliers for points.

Nomltest FS is a very slick space shooter with an interesting mixture of old-school graphics and new-school effects. Features a unique "bullet eating system" which rewards the player for keeping themselves in dangerous situations. There are three different shot patterns (each with its own effect on the bullet eating range and ship speed) as well as a few unlockable modes.

Invisible vision is a game of undersea submarine combat where sound is your greatest ally and your biggest foe. The wireframe ocean around you ripples with the sound of engines and torpedoes for beautiful effects and vital information about your battlefield. Complete with bosses, different choices of music and color schemes, and bonuses for exemplary combat achievements. (Z key fires torpedoes)

Gunroar is a top-down shooter that lives up to its name. You pilot a boat and are pitted against boats of all strengths and sizes as well as mounted turrets. No real story, just adrenaline-pumping action which you can share with a friend in the Double Play mode.

Tumiki Fighters is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up with a fun twist: the enemies you shoot down can be captured and added to your own arsenal, each of which gives you bonus points every second. The broken parts you collide with will stick to your ship and fire normally at your enemies, and also serve as extra layers of defense. There is also a "slow" key which reduces your movement and hides all attached pieces to prevent them from being destroyed.

Torus Trooper is a 3D shooter that is all about speed and high scores. Race against the clock with guns blazing, hunting all the little ships and boss ships you possibly can while avoiding all of their shots. Reaching certain scores and destroying bosses will add some time, though losing a ship will knock you down by 15 seconds.

Speed Shooter is a unique cross between a card game and an arcade game. There are four endless stocks of cards that are controlled by the keys [Z,X,C,V]. Each key throws a card onto the playing field. If the space on the playing field contains a card that is either directly above or below the card's value, it is destroyed and can possibly trigger a chain reaction on the surrounding cards.

Racer is a car simulation project using professional car physics papers to achieve a realistic feel. Cars, tracks and such can be created quite easily. Editors and support programs are also available to get a very customizable and expandable simulator.

Note: Racer requires ATi or nVidia graphics card as well as DirectX 8 and above to function properly.

Space Invaders OpenGL is a 2D/3D game based on the old arcade classic in which you must destroy enemy ships by shooting them up. It should run on any machine with a 3D accelerator card and OpenGL drivers.
