Screenshot Captor v4.12.0

Checker on 3 Jun 2015
  • 15MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 28 May 2015
  • Suggested by Ehtyar

Screenshot Captor (SC) is a tool for grabbing, manipulating, annotating, and sharing screenshots. The program is optimized for taking lots of screenshots with minimal intervention and makes it easy to add and edit callout arrows and text boxes. Allows automatic or on-demand uploading to image hosting services or sending by email. Can grab images from multiple sources including webcams and scanners, including lots of scanner acquisition tools and image correction. Supports multiple monitors, is able to capture Windows 7/8 partial transparency effects, and has a powerful scrolling capture tool.

System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8
Writes settings to: Application folder.
Note: ColorCop's version included with SC is no longer natively portable -- you'll have to revert to v5.3 if you use the color picker.
Stealth: ? No. Creates HKEY_CURRENT_USER\RtColorPicker registry key, if you use the color picker included.
Path portability: Automatic relative path (eg. ..\..\personal\work.doc)
License: Registerware for personal use; a license key must be obtained from DonationCoder (either by donating or by registering in their forums for free) to remove the nag message.
How to extract:
  1. Download the portable ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice
  2. Rename the file ConfigDir_Default.ini to ConfigDir.ini
  3. Launch ScreenshotCaptor.exe
Similar/alternative apps: ShareX, PicPick, FastStone Capture
What's new? Improvement:
  • New option to not display PDF files in thumbnail panel.
  • Clicking on a PDF file will now show message about double-clicking on thumbnail to open in default external viewer.
  • Last captured region is now preserved across runs.
  • Ctrl+C to copy selected region to clipboard (especially with Ctrl+A) was not copying the last row and column.

Has anyone tested recently if SC portability shortcomings are still extant?

ripu on 2015-02-18 09:00

@Midas I only tried the screenshot feature, and it did not create HKEY_CURRENT_USER\RtColorPicker or any other registry entry.

@ripu: thanks for reporting.

smaragdus on 2014-11-01 21:16

@Midas - I have put into an archive and uploaded all the versions of Lightscreen I have (0.5, 1.0, 1.01, 2.0 + PAF editions), so you can download the archive if you need any of the previous versions, which seem to be unavailable. Here is the download link of the 7Z archive-

you said
These are Trolltech (Qt framework) keys."

so I thought I might have missed a memo some where and maybe they were normal keys made
unavoidable I dont know

I am Baas on 2013-05-25 04:38

Napiophelios is right, it does write Trolltech junk to the registry. The "hats off" award obviously goes to him.

Can't open the .zip file (I downloaded the file from 2 mirrors, but neither 7-zip nor Uniextract could open it)

Worked great for me no problem with download, extract, or launch.
A great screen capture tool with neat features.
It will not replace FastStone Capture for me but it is a close second, and at half the size worth keeping track of.

Domain is gone, commercial use also free?
Error @starting - not enough Memory... - but it starts
Error @screenshot Fullscreen - not enough Memory - maybe Dualdisplay Problem?
