RedNotebook is a modern journal that includes a calendar navigation, customizable templates, export functionality and a "cloud" box containing frequently used words and tags. The program also includes spell check, formatting, insert images, files and links, automatic backup, templates, export to multiple formats. You can also format, tag and search your entries. Your data is stored in plain text files - no database needed.

I cannot find RedNotebook version 2.0 for Windows (as of 2017-06-11):
https://sourceforge.net/projects/rednotebook/files/
it seems that currently it is available for Linux only.
The latest version available for Windows is 1.15.
v2.0
Uups, sorry.
Changed back to v1.5.0
v1.5.0
Can we check that the Windows/Portable versions are up-to-date before updating the entry? As of this comment, the entry reflects the Linux version that’s been available for several days now (1.6.0), but the Windows installer and both Portable versions are still stuck at 1.5.0…
v1.6.0
Dig the wiki-like formatting: you can put two "--" on each side of a piece of text and it will add a strikeout format, two **s make an item bold, etc. Its a much faster way to add formatting without making you pause your writing to click on the toolbar. Also, the tags system can be set up as a really useful and cool Todo list. Lots of cool extras in journaling program.
V1.2.0
@smaragdus: Version 2.2 was recently released for Windows according to changelog here: https://github.com/jendrikseipp/rednotebook/blob/master/CHANGELOG
The project seems to have moved to GitHub. Downloads (Windows .exe and source archives) are here: https://github.com/jendrikseipp/rednotebook/releases. The link to Windows versions on the website now links to there.
I have not tested it for portability.
