Where is this "v8.1.9.3"?

PAFuser on 2022-01-19 09:26

8.2 does not seem to have sessions check box under general tab, and session does not seem to load or save. Any comments?

Things have changed a bit, can you make something happen by tweaking settings in Backup & Multi Instance... looking at the changelog some settings have been tweaked regarding Sessions???

Well, actually, the files from C++ runtime are really, there. Your missing DLLs api-ms-win-crt-runtime-* are indirect system dependencies which are not directly referenced by Textilosaurus binary, it seems these files can be installed with installing this:

So it seems that your operating system is not fully up-to-date. These DLLs cannot be re-distributed with textilosaurus.exe, the only way for me could be to package runtime installers into Textilosaurus installer, but that is not really good because some users install portable Textilosaurus from zip package instead, thus, this is not a solution for them.

What do you think? I thought I could use different toolchain (mingw) to build the app for windows, but unfortunately, it is only available for x86 platform which is bad, since I prefer to deploy x64 binaries.

Well, you're right - my system is not up to date and I am not able to install the update, because my Win 8.1 is one of those that refused to install the big ("8.2") update. No problem, for most other users Textilosaurus will work fine.

I am glad that the developer switched to a better versioning scheme.

VaultPad v1.2

webfork on 2 Nov 2016
  • 988KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 7 Dec 2014
  • Suggested by kitsaros

VaultPad is a simple text and file encryptor. The program can take text, attachments, or both to create an easy-to-share XML file for storage or sharing.

The program uses AES cipher (symmetric-key pairs) to encrypt local messages and RSA/AES cipher (public/private key pairs) for shared messages. A SHA-512 cipher is used to hash passwords, so they aren't stored in the application itself. A MD5 algorithm is used to check embedded files for corruption. VaultPad will handle third party public keys to be able to encrypt/decrypt their files directly.

Unicode support: Yes
License: Freeware
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch VaultPad.exe.

I dropped Notepad++ in favor of this one. Notepad++ is rapidly turning into bloatware. Notepad2 does not need plugins for its features, and so it is faster and much more compact, while still full of useful features.

Someone mentioned AkelPad. Some of its plugins don't work too well, and the syntax highlighting of HTML files isn't nearly as good as that of Notepad2.

There's now a x64 build of Notepad2. But can someone please explain to me how to get the "Open shell links" feature, so strings like or will launch when clicked in Notepad2?

domestique on 2013-10-25 00:27

I've tried them all over the years, including the modded version, but keep coming back to Flo's original. Small; fast; no distractions. Other notepad replacements often have too many options. The only thing I would add is a tabbed interface, but it's not a deal-breaker. Using the built-in Favourites and coupled with Flo's own metapath (, it's almost perfect for the way I work.
