7-Zip is an archive manager that can view and create a wide variety of formats. The program includes folder favorites, optional two-pane view, checksum calculator, file split/combine capability and more. Individual archives can be created with high speed or high compression settings, update options (including update, add/replace, synchronize), split volumes and more. Archives can be secured with standard zip or more secure AES encryption.
Although the official archiver for the open, high-compression "7z" format, the program also supports the creation of multiple formats including ZIP, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR and WIM. It will extract a long list of other formats, among them RAR, CAB, ISO, ARJ, RPM, VHD, VMDK etc. Even more formats are supported through third-party plugins. Supports many world languages.
Additionally, to use alternative toolbar and file icons, 7-Zip Theme Manager is available.
7-Zip Portable is a wrapper from PortableApps.com, auto-detecting 32 or 64-bit automatically. Alternatively, X-7zip is also available.
There is also a 7-Zip standalone console version.

@hamasaki - It's stealth to me. I don't see anything written to HKCU\Software\7Zip. |
7-Zip Theme Manager allows you to change the toolbar and file-type icons for the 7-Zip archive manager.
Instructions are available to modify 7-zip Portable (thanks SYSTEM).
Note: To obtain a set of icons for use with the program, download v2.1 and extract the "toolbar" and "filetype" directories to the same directory as 7zTM.exe.

ArcConvert converts between a wide variety of archives and includes automatic password detection. The program supports drag-and-drop, process priority, file check, and optional attributes (date/time). The program will even notify the user if the new file is larger than the original.
Ideal for upgrading compression (e.g. ZIP -> 7ZIP) or to change an archive to a format supported by your preferred program (e.g. RAR -> CAB).
Supports a long list formats are supported including ZIP, 7-ZIP, RAR, TGZ, as well as ~60 other lesser-known formats. The program can save to ZIP, 7-ZIP, CAB, LHA, TAR, TGZ, BZ2, YZ1, BGA, RAR, ACE, NOA32, PAQAR, UHARC, YZ2, DZ, HA, XZ, and FreeArc

Why all the fuss over RAR? The biggest problem is getting RAR to ZIP so it's compatible to more people in the world, not less. 1980 called, they want their compressor back.

The changelog posted is for ArcConvert v0.66, plus there now seems to be a 64 bits version linked at the bottom of the Sourceforge page ("Update for 64bit OS").

DavidRoper: even among very technical people, I can't seem to get anyone to use anything but ZIP. The dream of getting people to use one of a number of radically better compression formats has been going on for over a decade now and at this stage just seems like a lost cause. |
FileVerifier++ checks and compares files to see if they have been modified. Supports drag-and-drop, recursive directory processing, patterns, color coding, export to a variety of hashing formats (.sfv, .md5, .csv, etc.) and more. Can use any of 21 different hashing algorithms such as CRC16 for speed and SHA-512 for security (uses the standard MD5 by default).
The program (ZIP version) will automatically ask to create verification files with relative pathways, which is much more portable.
Win2K users should use an earlier version. A beta 64-bit version is available.

A little intimidating at first, but so far looks like the best file verification tool I've tried yet. Fast, recursive directory verify, open source, relative pathways, and multiple different verification methods? Dream come true for making sure your data hasn't changed or corrupted. Recommend MD5 for general file verification and SHA 256 for security verifications.

There is a version of FV++ that works with Windows 2000. The version is v0.6.4.6010 (it is under fileverifier-testing). While several of the icons do not render properly under Win2K, it is functional. |
OutlookStatView scans your Outlook mailbox and displays statistics about the users you communicate with. These insights can show who you spend the most time on, what times they are active, or if they are taking up a lot of inbox space.
Details for each user/email include the number of outgoing messages that you sent (separated by to/cc/bcc), the number of incoming messages, the total message size, and the client software. It also provides a time range that you send/received emails were sent or received.
A 64-bit version (only for use with Outlook 2010 64-bit) is available.
