It is possible to configure the Addict spellchecker to some degree by editing the registry.
E.g. with these settings, a 2nd main dictionary ("german_alt.adm") is added.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Angelic Software\AngelWriter\Addict]
"_Main_count"="2"
"_Main_0"="English.adm"
"_Main_1"="german_alt.adm"

In theory, this could be also possible with a file called "Spell.cfg" containing the same strings as the registry. Then again, I couldn't get it to work this way.
As a 2nd note, the exe is packed with UPX and can be unpacked with e.g. FUU (Free Universal Unpacker). In the unpacked exe, you can rename "Times New Roman" to e.g. "Calibri" to change the default font.

NunoSilva on 2023-03-05 13:19

It is feasible to "convert" Angel Writer at launch.
The spellcheck dictionaries (Addict type) may be copyed - from other dir - over 'English.adm' and the interface Language might lay near 'English.lng' as referenced in 'AngelWriter.ini'.
A 'Launch.bat' (or maybe a small App "AngelWriterPortable.exe') just have to:
1) Ask the user for the base language;
2) Copy a new 'AngelWriter.ini' (over the old? at home dir) referencing the interface language (already in place) at 'Languages' dir, say 'French.lng';
3) Copy the dictionary (e.g.: French.adm') as 'English.adm' (with that name) into 'Addict' dir, previously empty;
4) Launch 'AngelWriter.exe' as a sub-process;
5) At exit erase what it has copyed.

@NunoSilva: yaP could do it with relative ease IMHO -- please post your findings in the official forum topic to see if any help comes from the community...

The license leaves room for interpretation.
The author clarifies in the FAQ:
** Quote **
Q: The license of your software says that I only allowed to use it for personal and non-commercial use. What does it mean ? Can I use it in my work environment ?
A: When I say that my software is for "non-commercial use", I mean that you are not allowed to make profit from my software. You are allowed to freely use my software in your work environment for serving the internal needs of the company or for your own personal use. You can also offer my software to your customers, as long as you don't charge your customers for using my software, and as long as your customers know that my software is freeware and available to download from NirSoft Web site. Government agencies are also allowed to use my software without restrictions.

However, you are not allowed to:
* Include my software as a part of commercial software package.
* Charge your customer for a service provided by using my software. For example: You are not allowed to recover the password of your customer by using my password-recovery tools, and then charge your customer for password-recovery service.
** End quote **

Condensed:
It is freeware for private use AND use in a business environment, but it's not allowed to make profit out of it.

@jimdorey: I'm a little confused why we had a listing that this works with Win10 -- it really doesn't. When this version of the program stopped being developed, Win7 wasn't even out yet. Anyway, I recommend trying another software package for that OS. I've updated the entry.

joby_toss on 2016-06-02 11:49

@jimdorey: v5.3 works fine on my win 10 x64 using a 1080p screen resolution. Maybe you're using a high DPI screen/4k monitor, and only the last version (8.4, payware, but worth every penny) works fine in that case.

crazybrowser and other wrappers are great alternatives to ie6 and ie7 's goofy interface, that is if you must/want to use ie over other browsers

Tried other browsers ... its Crazy Browser for me ... I like the older version 2.01 still over the newer ones.

LyricalRaver on 2010-12-25 20:18

I agree, the older version, when I first installed it was excellent, pages loaded much faster than IE and it blocked pop-ups and other nasties as well. Recommend this browser! cheers.

Abilon is a RSS feeds aggregator. You can store interesting items in memories for later retrieval. In addition, you can set archival options for each feed so that recent items are retained even when they are removed from the feed. This is very useful for catching up on news after a long vacation.

Note: You can make Abilon support enclosures by editing the file "rssitem.templ" in the "Themes" folder and append "<<RSSITEM.ENCLOSURES>>" at the end of the file (no quotes). Then restart Abilon and it will display links to the enclosures at the bottom of each feed message. Thanks to "PJ"
