been using it for a very long time to keep with my ocasional basic need of joining/splitting PDFs and so far so good. SepPDF sometimes gets me corrupted splitted PDFs. If I need to remove page(s) from a few-paged PDF, just split, delete and rejoin, quick and dirty. |
Splitter Light helps you split files or whole directories (including subdirectories) into parts. It optionally creates a file with the timestamps of the original files to be restored as well as simple batch file for rejoining the files so you don't have to have access to the program to rejoin later.
Supports drag-and-drop, command-line, and very large files (limited only by OS).

File Splitter Lite is a small and fast program which allows you to split a copy of a large file into smaller segments. You may then easily transfer the segments to another computer and use File Splitter Lite or a self-joining batch script to reconstruct the original file.

ConcaDec is an easy-to-use program to divide and join any file you like (included files larger than 4 GB).
The program generates a tiny automatic rebuild tool along with the split files with a verification checksum (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-224, SHA-256), division preview, progress display, the possibility to pause or cancel the process, and more.

I'm still with HJ-Split v1.4 (for Windows 95!), but never had any problem with it in my XP Pro SP3...

GSplit is a versatile file-splitter that can split a large file into multiple parts based on user-specified parameters. It is also able to generate self-uniting executables (with file corruption auto-detection) that do not require any program on the destination machine.
This is useful for transferring files when there is a bandwidth or storage cap.

Wow did this work well! It's a no-brainer to use and did exactly what it said it would do. I tried to cram a huge 143MB file through the system yesterday and it kept choking and dying - after an hour of trying. I used GSplit and it went through in under five minutes for all of the smaller files. I tested re-assembly on my end and it was a no-brainer too.

There appears to be a problem with their download page. This link work for now: |
Splitter & Merger splits large files of any size into smaller ones and recombines them easily. It is able to compress files before splitting them, as well as generate self-extracting file sets.
Note: The application website appears to be offline, so I have made a copy available for direct download.

it looks good but in trying to split a 4gb file it seemed to stall forever saying "calculating checksum". After 30 minutes of this I I used taskmanager to kill it... If it was still working it needs to show some kind of progress indicator... I went back to an old favorite (HJ Split) and things went smooth as ice.

About long.Knight comments: just split a 4,62MB .ISO file in 5 parts (auto-extract option) in 23 minutes. I used an old AMD Duron/1.01GHz, ASUS A7A266 MoBo, 384MB RAM, WinXP Pro SP3. Original file obtained from rejoined in 17 minutes, same machine.

S&M works fine on large files. Splitting a 19.70GB HDD image into 700MB chunks took 30'17" and 32'51" to rejoin, both with checksum, on an old AMD Athlon 64 3000+, ASUSTek K8V-XE MoBo, 2.0GB Single-Channel DDR @ 200MHz, and MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3. |
