[Anonymous] anice utility.. i got it down to 4.22 megs by deleting $plugindir,$temp,balloon,curve,frame,icon,scratch,texture,gdiplus.dll,msvpcp60.dll,riched20.dll, of course you might want the images in the directorys, and may need the dlls but it saves space :). also in options disabled cache database, so it wont write cache thumbnails in images directory. [2007-08-06 11:47]

[Anonymous] pjIf you enable cache database, it puts a cache database for each directory you view in Photoscape. Also, you can not turn off the download of a intro.jpg image from Flickr into the application's directory everytime you start the app. Although if you make the intro.jpg file "Read Only" it prevents the overwriting - this may save some write-cycles on your USB flash drive. [2007-08-07 09:06]

[Anonymous] FriedGeekWOW! This is going to help me out so much. The amount of features, batching, and how easy it is to use is amazing!! I think I'm actually going to make a donation to the developer. [2007-08-08 09:17]

[Anonymous] Charles TothAn automatic DL from anywhere when my app starts is a deal breaker. Too bad, sounded like a good app, tnx pj. [2007-09-07 11:19]

[Anonymous] WebforkAlthough this program appears to be a little light on features compared to other available programs (notably Google's non-portable "Picassa" or Portable GIMP) some of its functions are so simple and easy, its indispensable. Its photo arrangement and easy animation tools are clean, simple, and great. [2007-09-23 19:44]

[Anonymous] JPThis is a great program. It is easy to use and seems to work well for the price :). I think you should definitely consider this program if you are animating gifs. [2008-01-28 12:46]

[Anonymous] tcYou can stop the intro photo by editing photoscape.cfg, and turning intro.photoOn from on to off. You could also edit the url, to point to a local image [2008-07-19 15:04]

[Anonymous] guesthere is what i did
intro.photoOn = on
intro.photoCount = 1
intro.photoUrl = c:\programs\photoscape

it still downloads from flickr.com
 [2008-07-23 12:45]

[Anonymous] PJtc, setting intro.photoOn to off doesn't prevent the program from trying to phone home. [2008-08-24 16:31]

[Anonymous] Guy NobenGreat program, works well, but where can i find "$PLUGINSDIR" for deleting? [2008-11-02 02:32]

[Anonymous] NerdGuy Noben, after extracting the installer file, open the folder wherever you extracted it, and there is a folder called "$PLUGINSDIR". Just delete that folder. If you don't know how to use windows explorer, then I can't help you. [2008-11-02 09:06]

[Anonymous] Escapewould like to get some more Frames .where can they be found? [2008-11-26 15:17]

[Anonymous] CCI agree with Guy. When you double-click "PhotoScapeSetup_V3.2.exe" to run the installer, no "$PLUGINSDIR" is created. Nor is there "$TEMP" or "[NSIS].nsi" in the location where the files were extracted to. However, if you use UniversalInstaller to extract the files, "$PLUGINSDIR" and "$TEMP" are in the folder, but "[NSIS].nsi" is not. So my question is where/how do you find "[NSIS].nsi"? [2008-12-06 09:35]

[Anonymous] CCIn the previous post, I meant to say "Universal Extractor" (also located on this site) rather than "UniversalInstaller". [2008-12-06 09:39]

[Anonymous] PipAny auto-download like that Flickr pic can be stopped easily with a proper, fully configurable firewall which everyone should be using if they use the 'net. Sounds like most of you uninformed peopleBT7 are relying on the Windows Firewall for protection - not a good idea. [2009-02-05 23:25]

[Anonymous] PortacrazyUmm, I followed the instructions to extract with Universal extractor, but like CC, I have no NSIS.nsi file anywhere? I ran the program in sandboxie and it is stealth enough. It writes to the appdata folder in vista and also makes entries to the registry. Am I doing something wrong? Any insights? [2009-05-20 22:08]

[Anonymous] Portacrazyedit to above comment: I meant to say it is not stealth, sorry. [2009-05-20 22:12]

[Anonymous] MarbalVersion 3.4 is out. Is it still stealthy? [2009-10-09 23:37]

[Anonymous] weGIFThis is great help because of its instructional information. I have tried using Photo Animation Software for more quality weGIF animation software. [2009-11-20 19:32]

[Anonymous] VeikoWarning, this application sends some information to the developer web site, every time I start the program. Dear developer, respect my privacy and build an option to turn off this "feature" please! [2009-12-06 08:52]

[Anonymous] WegifVery nice software. Try also WEgif Photo Animator Software. Want to do more with your digital camera? WEgif create, view and share animated pictures. Auto align images, animate.

[Anonymous] Frank T.Portable? I installed v. 3.5 (moste recent one) and got these files:

c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\PhotoScape\photoscape.cfg
c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\PhotoScape\phoobj.cfg
c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\PhotoScape\favorite.lst
 [2010-05-24 12:40]

[Anonymous] JP LokenTo Frank T.:
I have used version 3.4, and now version 3.5, from a USB-stick quite often.
I have never not got any files on my computer.
Are you sure you have followed the instructions above on how to extract? (You have to extract the downloaded exe-file.)

[Anonymous] Mark26Perhaps he has PhotoScape on is harddrive. That can make a difference as to this kind of behaviour. [2010-05-26 17:11]

[Anonymous] DevNullI too am experiencing the creation of folder "Photoscape" in the "Application Data" folder. I copied the contents of this folder to the same folder as Photoscape.exe and deleted the folder but the files were recreated when I ran Photoscape v3.5 again.

I have extracted previous versions of Photoscape and run them, but have never installed it on my PC.

In my opinion it appears that application is no longer stealth or portable (because the settings will be left behind). I have not yet checked to see what settings are stored or if they are important.

Files which were created:

c:\Documents and Settings\$USER$\Application Data\PhotoScape\favorite.lst
c:\Documents and Settings\$USER$\Application Data\PhotoScape\intro.jpg
c:\Documents and Settings\$USER$\Application Data\PhotoScape\phoobj.cfg
c:\Documents and Settings\$USER$\Application Data\PhotoScape\photoscape.cfg
c:\Documents and Settings\$USER$\Application Data\PhotoScape\photoscape.log

[User] joby_toss@DevNull: you are correct! [2010-05-30 06:47]

[User] vgamesx1@pip: well it seems to me that you are the one that is uninformed because firewalls only stop internet connections they don't stop any kind of virus (other than a worm) so downloading a different firewall is almost point less and a waste of computer.

Trust me theres stuff in windows firewall that you don't know about.
why? cause you never looked.

NOTE: also if I remember right windows firewall was on a 1 of top 5. So no windows firewall don't sux that bad especially when you got to add the port manually unlike others where it just asks to add a program and your done.

If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
