Aaron: I think the installation version is newer 0.96 ? This website is in french and I can't tell if the program is all french or if english is default for english computers? I'd prefer to use the portable version then installation version ... anyone know of english version that is up to date? [2007-07-11 10:22]
random.user: The program is in English, version 0.95. [2007-07-11 11:51]
john doe: crashes while starting up... :-((( [2007-07-11 21:57]
Bill: Took awhile to load (about 75 seconds) on a 3800+ AMD Athlon 64 processor with 3Gb of memory running Win XP sp2 and loading from a network attached storage device over 100Mb ethernet. I thought it had hung up... Other than that, for the few minutes I played around with it, it seems to work fine. Can't wait to see what it does on a Win 2000 machine with 512MB loading from a USB stick... [2007-07-12 19:23]
ii.mull: Source Forge for English Beta address:
http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=framakey&filename=fk_en_106b1.exe&use_mirror=superb-west [2007-07-13 12:48]
fordy: Works fine on an XP system but can't find various DLLs and entry points when running on a Win2k (SP4) system. (same pen drive on both boxes). [2007-07-18 23:08]
pam: Dia crash while starting .... Wiondows XP SP2 [2007-10-08 02:52]
Jörg: Vista is asking for an Admin-password (which I don't have ;-).
I think the parameter "RequestExecutionLevel user" has to be added in the PortableDIA.nsi file before compiling the exe. [2007-12-05 07:37]
Razzbar: Why was I just now directed to download something called "FramaKey", which is NOT a diagramming tool? [2008-03-29 12:56]
Andy: The website has is also available in English as well as Italian, just appears the French is the default.
The website is a bit like portableapps website where you can download individual apps or the package (known as Framakey)
Dia's own website is http://www.gnome.org/projects/dia/ but I have not yet worked out if the versions on there are portable or not [2008-04-04 01:46]
Andy: A correction to my last post, that's Dia's old site - I should have read the page 1st!
This is the up-to-date one. [2008-04-04 01:48]
Ian: Maybe the site has changed since Andy looked at it, but even following the links for advanced users to pick which components they want, I see no way of just picking DIA [2009-03-18 10:06]
JA: Found on download page "Dia for Windows" http://dia-installer.de/download.html, "Dia for your USB stick" http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=16768&filename=dia_0.97_win32.zip [2009-10-03 21:34]
Mister Wolf: I use it (ver 0.95) for simple charts at home, its equals to Visio (for my needs..), its free, and its portable so I can always take it with me on my DOK. Recommended. [2009-11-05 15:20]
webfork: I tried really, really hard to make a go of this program to put together some flowcharts and so forth, but sadly its really not a replacement for Visio. Entering text into ojects and then and linking them (fairly simple stuff) is far too difficult and annoying. I hope the developers keep working on it and its gets to a more useful point. For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
