WinMerge is a tabbed, visual file differencing and merging tool. It's primary use is determining changes between two text files, but includes tools for folder, image, and 3-way comparison. It comes with a built-in editor with syntax highlighting, line numbers, word-wrap, synchronized scrolling, and handles a variety of file formats.
An unofficial plugin (xdocdiff) is available to enable comparison functions for the text of Word, Excel, PDF, LibreOffice, RTF, and other file formats.
WinMerge Portable is a portable version of WinMerge from PortableApps. Alternatively, an outdated X-WinMerge is also available.

64bit version from https://sourceforge.net/projects/winmerge/files/alpha/2.15.2/ can be used to replace 32 bit folder in PortableApps.com version. So far no problems with it. Renamed original file, just in case.

PAFUser: For a better experience, use WinMerge 2011 Portable. WinMerge 2011 is a continuation fork of WinMerge that is regularly updated. Our portable package includes the 32-bit and 64-bit versions and switches between them. |
Hashing is a tool for creating unique hash values to identify and examine files. This allows verification, duplication analysis, and can be used for file security (via the VirusTotal service). The program supports UPPER/lower case, drag and drop, batch processing and file export for later verification.
Available hashes include commonly-used algorithms CRC32, MD5, SHA1/256/384/512 and RIPEMD160.

WinDataReflector is a lightweight file synchronization and backup tool. It combines rapid file comparison and fast transfer algorithms into a simple and clear interface, offering a visual comparison of files and folders before synchronization / backup. It supports two-way synchronization and customizable rules.
The program can run operations in the background while you configure new ones in a separate tab.
Note: Linking to an older version (thanks smaragdus) as the latest "free" version cannot be used to synchronize more than 150 files, create more than 3 tasks or use automation (realtime, USB detection, scheduler).

I downloaded version 2.0.0 thinking it was 100% freeware, but the free version can not be used to sync more than 150 files, create more than 3 tasks or use automation.

REVerdi is right, see https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16701&p=89479#p89479 and downvote.

Well that sure SUX, I don't understand why they put stuff in freeware and then hobble it so it can't really be used efficiently. Its like offering you a free sandwich with no bread, just doesn't make any sense. I don't even waste my time on this kinda stuff, as soon as I find out its so limited in what you can do I bail. That's why the comment section is so important.... at least to me it is :) |
TableTextCompare allows you to easily compare 2 tab-delimited or comma-delimited (csv) files, and find out the difference between the 2 files. TableTextCompare can make the comparison even if the records of the 2 files are not sorted in the same order, or if the fields are not positioned in the same order.

Having recently spent some time looking for table comparison tools out there (including in Excel), I'm really glad to see something like this. |
ImgSearch lets you search and delete similar images across multiple folders. The program even allows checking for similarity from previous image analysis. Files are removed to the Recycle Bin and can be restored in case of a mistake.

Worthy alternative to ImgSearch (which has not been updated since March 2007) :
