This utility really does a great job, and removes many useless files and registry entries in the process. It is missing one key element, however (in my opinion) and that is to allow the user to preview the scan results before committing and executing. Yes, you can set it to create a backup point, but that does not replace the ability for experienced users to see what is about to be cleaned prior to execution. One more small issue is there is no way to set 'Close' to mean exactly that. Close now pops the app to the taskbar, and that is not what I expect 'Close' to do. Give the user the option of having the app truly close.

So far No Problems. But Nothing running installed other than OS, & Office. |
PeaExtractor is a easy, minimalistic tool for unpacking almost any compressed file format. Features a search tool, progress bar and drag-and-drop functionality. The program can unpack over 180 formats including encrypted or multi-volume archives (usually a series like .000, .001 or .r01, .z01...) as well as standard formats like 7z, rar, tar, zip, zipx, bzip2, cab, iso etc.
The program aims to function as a simple, accessible alternative to file manager-like interfaces used by WinRAR, WinZip and 7-Zip. Cross-platform (Linux, BSD) and developed by the author of PeaZip.
NOTE: Open ACE files with additional steps. The download also includes pea.exe, containing other tools including checksums, secure delete, file lists and more.

There are a lot of great ways to compress files and folders quickly and easily, but most people are only familiar with ZIP. PeaExtractor's broad support means that it frees us up to send the latest and best compression formats without wondering if the recipient will have difficulty opening it. |
PeaZip is a feature-rich file archiver with broad support for 200+ file types. The file manager interface includes a hash tool, file wipe, file associations, file splitter, themes, estimated compression level, system benchmark, image crop/rename and much more.
Formats supported include most mainstream archive formats, including ZIP, 7Z, ACE, BZIP2, CAB, GZIP, TAR, UPX, ZIPX, as well as it's own PEA format. Can extact but not create MSI and RAR files.
Note that tools setup through the Task Scheduler are not portable.
Cross platform with clients for Mac, Linux, and BSD, as well as a 64-bit version is available. Alternatively, PeaZip Portable portablizes bookmarks and includes both 32 and 64-bit versions, automatically using the proper one on each PC.

My experience with PeaZip is to go to: |
Restoration helps undelete files that were deleted accidentally. You can scan for all files that could be recovered, or filter the results by entering a search term or extension. By contrast, if the recoverable files need to stay deleted, the program can perform a secure wipe function to fully delete recoverable files.

With Restoration v3.2.13 I have noticed the following: |
FreeCommander XE is a powerful, dual-pane file manager with hundreds of features including folder size calculation, folder comparison/synchronization, file/duplicate search, filtering, MD5 calc / verfiy, folder compare, sync and a customizable interface. Includes a file viewer to view files in hex, binary, text or image format; an archive handling ability for standard compressed formats including ZIP (read, write), CAB (read, write) and RAR (read); built-in copy/move/delete handlers; and much more. Additional features are available via plugins.
A 64-bit version is available for donors, while a PortableApps version is also available from the author's website.

I have been using FreeCommander for many years and it is, simply, outstanding. To not have a real file manager is a misfortune; to be without FreeCommander is to be handicapped. Over time I have introduced many new users to FreeCommander and the results are always the same after several weeks of use - fascination that they ever managed to function with that Windows File Explorer thing. I had moved to FreeCommander when the old Xtree/XtreeGold file manager was no longer functional in Windows, and other file managers were not handling the complex file management work regularly encountered. At first, the two default panes in FreeCommander seemed odd. Though one pane can be disabled or hidden, dual panes grow quickly on the user until one realizes - wait, how can anyone function with a file manager that has just one pane?
