Just heard about this program from Security Now podcast #564. Since both download links were dead the co-host mirrored the version [1] from Snapfiles.com on his own site for people to download.

Should I change the download link to this or the Softpedia.com link above? It would be nice to have a direct link imo.

@Specular: the problem here might be the sudden popularity -- here's the message I get when trying to download from the homepage: "Error (429) This account's links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!"...

Specular on 2016-06-19 15:06

@Midas: the host found and tested the program prior to mentioning on the show and noted the download links had been broken for a while, in addition to several users here for the past several years, so I think the site is just outdated.

BlueScreenView v1.55

billon on 16 May 2018
  • 95KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 29 Jan 2015
  • Suggested by guinness

BlueScreenView scans all your minidump files created during 'blue screen of death' crashes and displays the information about all crashes in one table. For each crash, BlueScreenView displays the minidump filename, the date/time of the crash, the basic crash information displayed in the blue screen (Bug Check Code and 4 parameters) and the details of the driver or module that possibly caused the crash (filename, product name, file description and file version).

This program is useful for both developers and non-programmers to determine both the cause and possible workarounds for major crashes.

Great tool, and a utility that Windows Admin Tools should have by default. Disabling automatic restart and writing down error codes is one thing, but this is so useful when helpful other users who often fail to record the correct information -- and saves them doing so when installed. Two thumbs up.

Saw this tool getting used recently by high-level tech support folks. Definitely an important tool for Windows diagnosis.

Finally had a real need for this -- helped me track down a program that was misbehaving and causing a whole-system crash. Saved a whole lot of time when dealing with support. Wonderful.

WebVideoCap allows you to capture Flash video format (.FLV) files and RTSP/MMS video streams downloaded in your web browser. After the entire video file is downloaded and played by the Web browser, the video file is saved in the folder that you selected, and save and to play offline. The program can capture the video files of most popular video-sharing sites, including YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo Video, iFilm, Metacafe, Putfile etc.

Note: You can use WebVideoCap under Windows Vista with SP1, but you must download and install the WinPcap driver, and select the WinPcap driver as the capture method, so it is functional but not portable.

Use a web-based downloader such as: http://keepvid.com
I works great with youtube.

larry: I wish techcrunch would take that to a lawyer. Nobody accepts a user agreement / terms of use to use Youtube so you can't be in violation of one if you didn't agree to it. They got a cease-and-desist and panicked because, you know, its Google.

Stoic Joker on 2010-01-07 01:19

The primary purpose of Page Countster is to collect information from/about business (class) network laser printers. To that end the program does a pass/fail connection test to the lpr/lpd spooler port 515, which is typically open on any network print device.

Given that the Photosmart series inkjet printers are consumer class machines (which isn't a bad thing I just got one for my wife for christmas), they most likely have a very stripped down network interface (hence the failure).

Page Countster is also not designed to get readings from all 6 of the possible ink cartridges in some of the ink based machines. I may explore this later for taking reading off of a plotter and/or as network inkjets become more common.

j36047 on 2010-01-07 14:26

Thanks for clearing that up Stoic Joker. That makes sense as Page Countster does see the HP LaserJet 2300 on my same home network without issue. It would be good to see this functionality in the future. It would make Page Countster more of a one stop shop for managing network printers.

zemach on 2010-09-30 07:51

It’s possible to run the app automatically and send the report via SMTP?
