Blowfish Advanced CS v2.57

Checker on 15 Mar 2014

Blowfish Advanced CS is a easy to use encryption and disk wipe program, removing the extra step of typing in a password every time you view an encrypted file. Instead, the program caches the key and allows the dynamic viewing of encrypted files, renamed to a .BFA extension. To view, open them inside the Blowfish Advanced CS file manager or drag-and-drop them into the program window. Note that edits are not dynamically encrypted to the same location. Files must be decrypted and then edited.

The program includes a variety of security options including use of a key disk, a time-out for available decryption, multiple algorithms including Blowfish (default), AES, Twofish, Serpent, etc., multiple file / empty disk space shredding options, and more. Compression options are also available.

This is a good file encryption utility I been using for several years.

Advantages:
+ Multiple encryption algorithms
+ Unique "work with" feature where you type in decryption password, then bfacs launches association application. After you're done working with the file, bfacs re-encrypts the file automatically.
+ Can wipe files and free space.
+ Option to preserve "Date/Time Stamps"

Any advantage to using this vs. truecrypt?

@linuxamp: blowfish has another target. the main reason i'm using it: on the customer-pc's i usually dont have admin rights, and even if i have an truecrypt volume on my usb drive i cant work as easily with the files as it is possible with blowfish. one click and the password: the file is decrypted and i can work with it. another click: the file is encrypted again. very very good tool.

Is anyone having problems with this program? I find it quite attractive, with it's no nonsense gui and it's portability.

I'd like to hear more about the software

I have been using Blowfish Advanced CS 2.57 with near perfect reliability for 4 years on e-mail files that I carry about on a Usb flash memory card. My only decryption failure was entirely my fault -- I forgot the passkey.

Very cool program for use with the various different "cloud" services out there. Using the key caching, encrypted files can be viewed seamlessly on your local machine, without the hosting service having any idea of it's content.
