Synopsis: QEMU is a processor emulator that provides you with VMWare-style virtual machines using a technique called "dynamic translation" that gives good performance. MobaLiveCD is a simple graphical frontend for QEMU that lets you boot any LiveCD ISO image in a virtual machine without complicated settings in only a few clicks.

Qemu Manager is a GUI manager for QEMU that makes it easy to understand and use for the average user. It provides facilities for configuring, running and managing virtual machines and the associated storage, peripherals and devices.

Note: this software site appears to be offline. Please post in forums if you find a working link to the zip file version.

How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch QemuManager.exe. Note that administrator rights is required for KQEMU Accelerator support, and if you don't want to leave any trace on the host machine, you need to uninstall the driver upon exit.

Synopsis: Atari800 is an Atari 800, 800XL, 130XE and 5200 emulator. It provides support for 8 disk drives, 42 cartridge types, cassette recorder, printer, joystick (real or keypad-emulation) etc. Screen snapshots (normal and interlaced) can be captured to PCX and PNG files, while sound output may be captured to WAV files.

How to extract: Download both the emulator and the system ROMs, then extract them to a folder of your choice. You will also need to place any disk or cartridge files (which contain the actual Atari programs or games) in the same folder. The contributor's personal favorite is M.U.L.E.. Launch atari800.exe.

Synopsis: Jnes is a NES emulator for win32 platforms that uses DirectX for it's hardware interface. It's emulation capabilities include graphics, sound, input devices, and emulating quite a few memory mapping boards found in most USA games and a few popular japanese ones. Jnes boasts a fairly intuitive user interface that makes playing NES a little more enjoyable. One of the coolest features is the included database of Pro-Action-Replay and Game Genie cheats. Jnes also supports Kaillera netplay as well.

Synopsis: MAMEUI32 (formerly MAME32) is the Win32 GUI version of MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator), a hardware emulator that enables you to play many ancient, long-lost arcade games and even some newer ones. To actually play any games, you will still need to google for the actual ROM files and add them to MAME32.
