DP Shredder erases files/folders securely and wipes disk free space using one of the following methods: zero, pseudo-random data, RCMP (DSX), US DoD 5220.22-M (E), US DoD 5220.22-M (ECE) or Gutmann 35x.
Multiple wipe actions are progressively slower. All but the most security-minded users should only need a pseudo-random overwrite.

What I don't like about this program is there the indication that it is running is just the "Pass N" on the bottom bar and the "waiting" icon on the application. A progress bar would be much better.
As for doing its job, the data space looks pretty much randomised and I can't see my old data.
The author "Dirk Paehl" has an interesting collection of software, I'm not sure if they are all portable though.
@ SK,
I would suspect like most other programs just kill the process.
When in windows open the task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), find a process that looks like the name you would expect, DP.exe, maybe and then right click on it, and kill the process. See if that is what you want.
But really you should just double check your settings before beginning the job...
How do I stop the utility during when it is doing an overwrite? Attempting to use the Close button or exit the utility do no respond.
